Chapter 1069 - 822 Life
"I was sure that the bastard who would even betray his own savior for some enticement would follow my orders, but I had no confidence in bewitching a Giant," the Cyclops said.
"It sounds like you’ve found yourself in a predicament and thus resorted to drastic measures, poor thing. It’s just a pity that if you had been a bit more sincere while saying all that, I might actually have believed you!"
Long Yi’s entire body erupted with a strong destructive fluctuation, instantly breaking free from the constraints binding his energy. At the same time, this force shattered dozens of tiny Eye Worms that had sneakily flown towards him from behind.
"Tsk tsk, why put yourself through this? If you obediently allowed me to control you, you’d suffer far less pain. Although I’m not too familiar with a Giant’s anatomy, I imagine you’re not much different from other creatures. Once I torment you to exhaustion, you will ultimately be under my control," the Cyclops declared with a resigned laugh upon realizing its plan had been exposed. But it clearly wasn’t worried, for this was its world, and Long Yi had nowhere to run.
"I’m actually quite curious," Long Yi said, staring at the Cyclops.
"Curious about what?" the Cyclops asked.
"I’m curious why, if you are as powerful as you claim, you didn’t use more forceful methods to make me submit. Why did you have to fabricate conflicts between the Cyclops Clan, the Two-eyed Clan, and the Three-eyed Clan from the beginning? You also arranged for me to stay there; it seems you intended to subliminally influence me over time. But I didn’t fall for it. In my view, if you truly are as strong as you appear, you would have adopted more direct methods," Long Yi explained.
The Cyclops listened quietly to Long Yi’s words but did not respond.
"So I have been pondering what has happened to me since entering this world. I woke up on the head of a member of the Cyclops Clan, then fell to the ground. Using the power of the rocks, I became the same size as the Cyclops. But there is a problem here—if what I touched wasn’t real rock but your true body, then I shouldn’t have absorbed the power of the rocks. Without the power of the rocks, why did I suddenly grow larger?"
"I think I must have entered a mental realm. However, after a series of examinations, I discovered this isn’t a mental realm at all; everything here is pure matter. And now you tell me this is a Fissure of time and space always filled with Kela Particles that can affect the mass of matter. Can I then assume that nothing has actually changed, and it’s only the space that has altered? Could it be that a spatial inequality makes us appear to have such a vast size difference?"
As he spoke, Long Yi suddenly activated all of his mana and cast a spell that quickly took shape, aiming at the Cyclops that was as large as a planet!
Bang! A magic missile flew towards the Cyclops, only to explode against an invisible barrier in mid-air.
"Truly worthy of a Giant, indeed worthy of a Giant; you’ve almost guessed everything correctly. But what of it? Now that you’ve entered my spatial prison, as a being of the Fissure, my mastery of spatial magic is far beyond what you can compare to! No matter what you do, you cannot escape from here! I have ten years to wear you down bit by bit. The moment you let your guard down even a little, my Eye Worms will control you! Forever!" the Cyclops roared loudly.
Long Yi, however, did not speak, continuing instead to look around him.
"You say you have ten years? Why emphasize this precise duration? Is it because this time is important? Why is it important? Wait, I remember the strange Array I passed through when I came in. It not only transported me here but also imprisoned Ai Lin and the others. But with their strength, they cannot be trapped for long. Ten years? If time is disproportionate here, then outside would be ten days? No, they can’t be trapped for ten days! Ten hours? That’s also impossible! Ten minutes! In at most ten minutes, they would break free! Which means that ten years here is equivalent to ten minutes outside! Is this the difference in time between here and there?"
Although Long Yi seemed to be talking to himself, a hint of panic appeared in the Cyclops’ eye.
"Stop deceiving yourself; all of this is just your wild imagination! You have been imprisoned here! Never think of leaving!" the Cyclops roared loudly.
"This time it’s ’never think of leaving’? Just now it was ten years," Long Yi chuckled. The power of the Giant surged at full speed, and beneath his feet, a vast clock face emerged.
Extremely complex gears meshed together, but in the center, there was a peculiar energy that seemed to be restraining one of the gears, causing it to rotate very slowly.
"The Torrent of Time? Why! Why can you cast this spell!" the Cyclops screamed in disbelief.
"Didn’t I tell you? Because I am a Giant," Long Yi stated. He then unleashed a destructive fluctuation at the strange energy. It wasn’t powerful, and Long Yi easily erased it.
At that moment, Long Yi also felt that the barrier separating him from the Cyclops had vanished!
"Curses! The timestream barrier!" the Cyclops screamed involuntarily.
"First, time, then space!"
With that, Long Yi charged towards the Cyclops. But as he did, the Cyclops began to shrink rapidly, as if moving further and further away, yet Long Yi was certain he was closing in!
The Cyclops turned to run, but Long Yi was not about to let it escape.
In the blink of an eye, the Cyclops had shrunk to the size of a walnut. Long Yi reached out and grabbed it in his hand.
"Stop running! Let’s have a proper talk!" Long Yi said, "We should have about ten minutes now!"
But the Cyclops showed a hint of a ferocious expression, "Talk? We have a lifetime!"
Countless tentacles shot out from around the Cyclops, attempting to pierce into Long Yi’s palm. However, a series of metallic clashing sounds were heard, and even a succession of sparks appeared on Long Yi’s palm.
"To talk about a lifetime now seems a bit premature, let’s start with introductions instead."
Long Yi’s body suddenly erupted with golden electric arcs, which spread around him, and everything in the vicinity instantly shattered and vanished like glass, leaving only the pitch-black void, a supremely tranquil space where streams of energy flowed quietly, and occasionally a faint light could be seen in the distance, with no way of knowing how far away it truly was.
"Is this the Fissure?" Long Yi asked, but the Cyclops in his hand kept struggling without speaking.
Long Yi simply clenched his hand tighter.
"Ah! Don’t squeeze! This is indeed the Fissure! The Fissure of time and space!"
At this time, the voice of the Cyclops didn’t sound as deep as before but rather high-pitched and even somewhat comical.
"Are you a life form of the Fissure?"
"Yes, I am a life form of the Fissure." Currently peering at Long Yi from between the fingers, the Cyclops appeared somewhat crestfallen; it knew it had lost and thus ceased all struggle.
"Tell me about this place," Long Yi said.
The spaces between time were full of Fissures, and this place wasn’t an empty void but teeming with life forms of the Fissure. It was a world rife with struggle and destruction, where some powerful beings even wielded the ability to devour universes, while the weakest were less significant than single-celled organisms. Here, it was the simple, brutal law of big fish eating little fish, the strong forever consuming the weak. And the weak, from the very moment of their birth, had to keep devouring and evading being devoured by the strong—an axiom each Fissure life form understood from the moment of its genesis.
Not a single life form of the Fissure knew where it came from, nor did they experience death. Their only destiny was to be devoured and become part of another being. The Devourers gained their energy, their knowledge, their all, while the devoured lost everything.
Soon, some sufficiently powerful Fissure beings grew dissatisfied with simply preying on one another. They discovered vast spaces beyond the Fissure, filled with matter and life. Matter would grant them greater strength, while life would grant them greater wisdom!
Therefore, almost all the Fissure life forms began to focus on these spaces, and whenever a spatial gate opened, they would swarm towards it. But these spaces were not untouched havens. They were created by gods, who set peculiar rules for these realms, and the Fissure beings could not tolerate these rules. The weaker Fissure beings would soon vanish without a trace, while the larger, stronger ones had difficulty passing through the fleeting spatial fissures.
Long Yi watched the surrounding flashes that signified the emergence and disappearance of one spatial fissure after another. He had no idea where these fissures led to, but he had never imagined before that these places could be so coveted!
"Wait, I remember the Crystal Demon’s world once had some spatial fissures that were permanently open," Long Yi said.
"There were some powerful beings that tried to enter that world full of crystals, but the ultimate outcome was that within a certain Fissure, all life turned to crystals,"
the Cyclops said.
"Although you don’t look very large, your knowledge is quite extensive," Long Yi laughed.
"Whatever you say, I have devoured countless lives, and besides, I have made a deal with Elma," the Cyclops said.
"What deal did you make with him?" Long Yi asked, puzzled.
"I helped him control his subordinates, and he helped me leave this Fissure," the Cyclops said.
"You intend to enter a space?"
"No, I am too weak. Entering a space is too dangerous for me. I want to leave this Fissure; it’s too small. All the life forms born here have been completely devoured by me, allowing me to grow only this much, so when I said I wanted to leave this place before, I wasn’t lying to you."
Long Yi lifted his hand and looked at the Cyclops between his fingers, unable to help but laugh.
"What are you laughing at?" the Cyclops asked.
"According to the Giants’ records, you Fissure life forms are considered to be mad beings beyond communication, and everything you do is to merge the Fissure with space. But you seem to be quite communicative," Long Yi remarked.
"That’s because I’ve devoured part of Elma’s wisdom, and I learned your way of communication. As for what we do, it’s certainly not to merge space with the Fissure—we do it just to fill our stomachs."
"Hmm, I think ten minutes is almost up," Long Yi said. (To be continued. If you like this work, you are welcome to vote for it on Qidian (qidian.com), and your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users please visit m.qidian.com to read.)
