Chapter 1109 - 862: Entering into Knowledge

The teleportation ended, and in front of the two girls appeared a group of researchers dressed in uniform attire, though they looked much healthier than the people below.

An elderly man who was leading them came forward and said, "Hello, Miss Lily, Miss Sasa, welcome to the Aerial Research Lab, I am Zuo La, the chief researcher here."

"Hello, Mr. Zuo La," Isrile and Ruosha both said politely in unison.

"Actually, I invited the two of you here because I have a few questions I wanted to ask," Zuo La said.

"If it’s about the questions we answered earlier, we must admit, these problems were precisely those we had previously resolved, which is why we chose them as our opponents," Isrile said with a sly smile.

Among the crowd, a researcher looked proudly around him. His guess was correct, but no one else had a congratulatory look in their eyes. The reason was simple: Lily and Sasa were just too young, they seemed to be not even of age. The accomplishments these two young girls had achieved were enough to make them look down on all the researchers below, even if the answers to those questions had indeed been researched by them at an earlier time, which meant they were even younger when they found these answers!

"Heh, truly two honest kids," Zuo La said with a smile.

"There’s no use in being dishonest. It’s easy to come up with a formula in three days, but to instantly solve three problems? It doesn’t seem credible, so it’s better to reveal the answers earlier and save oneself from embarrassment," Isrile said.

At her words, the group of researchers around them could only smile wryly to themselves. You find it easy to research a formula in three days? Any one of them present dared not make such a claim. If it really were that easy, what would they be doing here?

"Hmm, you really are two remarkable kids," Zuo La said, nodding with a smile, then continued, "Come on, tell me about your teacher. Who knows? I might know him!"

Not only Zuo La but everyone present was very curious about what kind of person could have taught such impressive youngsters. Immediately, everyone pricked up their ears, ready to establish a connection with the two girls.

"Our teacher, he goes by Nameless, though I suspect that’s definitely a pseudonym. I have no idea what his real name is; he always leaves in a hurry right after swiftly finishing his lessons," Ruosha said.

"Oh? What does he look like?" Zuo La asked.

"He’s very tall, taller than all of you, with a very strong build. I once saw him effortlessly carry a huge rock as big as half a house. He talks nicely, though I can’t place his accent," Isrile described.

This description was exactly the one given by Long Yi.

Zuo La furrowed his brow. Is this a description of a teacher or a wild man?

"No, no, our teacher has the image of a little girl, shorter than me, with twin ponytails, always floating in the air, and she has many avatars," Ruosha said.

This description matched Little Zi perfectly.

"Wait, so the teacher you saw looks really different from mine?" Isrile asked in feigned surprise.

"Didn’t you notice? I thought I mentioned this to you once..." Ruosha whispered.

"I thought you were just muddling things up in your sleep..." Isrile’s eyes widened.

Zuo La immediately realized that both descriptions were probably fake. The mage known as Nameless didn’t want to be recognized, so he always obscured his tracks that way. Indeed, it wasn’t that simple.

"Never mind, it seems your teacher doesn’t want to be recognized. But it doesn’t matter, I think you two should be more excellent than him," Zuo La said.

"Well, it’s not nice to say this about our teacher, but we’ve actually believed that we were better than our teacher a long time ago," Isrile confidently stated.

Zuo La’s heart leaped with joy, as he had been worried that this so-called teacher might become a stumbling block in his future, but he hadn’t expected that he was merely a beginner’s teacher; the real talents were indeed these two young girls!

"Given the circumstances, from today on, the two of you will conduct your research in this Aerial Research Lab. You two have proven yourselves with your abilities, and from today onwards, Zemir will no longer be your mentor, but your partner. You will work on a project together." At this point, Zuo La looked at the two girls whose eyes were gleaming with excitement and said, "Things are different up here compared to the world below. Everyone here is a genius among geniuses, and many of your research projects will require collaboration. It’s best not to make enemies carelessly."

Isrile and Ruosha nodded excitedly at the same time. This was not an act; they were genuinely happy because this meant they were one step closer to the secrets of this planet.

When these two seemingly young girls joined the Aerial Research Lab, it seemed to rub some of the existing researchers the wrong way. Although no one openly showed it, the dissatisfaction was evident to everyone. Zemir even took the trouble to explain that Isrile and Ruosha were promoted because of their exceptional scholarship, but someone immediately retorted that such research was nothing special and that they were not qualified to be there. An angry Isrile was about to set this person straight, but Zemir stopped her.

Each research group here was led by someone like Zemir, and they were all followers of the Star Devourers. This was the biggest secret of all: everything they did was in preparation for the return of the Star Devourers to this world. For that purpose, they would sacrifice anything, and causing conflict here was pointless.

"We should surpass them in our research," Zemir said.

"Actually, I’d rather let him get acquainted with my fist," Isrile said, brandishing her small fist. The Isrile disguised as a little girl no longer possessed her former daunting aura, so Zemir only smiled when he saw her shaking her little fist.

Soon, the experimental equipment that Isrile and Ruosha had requested was delivered, and they immediately began their intense research. It was at this time that they finally made their first contact with the outside world.

This rare experimental equipment was specially prepared by the Azure Sky Empire. Originally, these items were rarely sold, and the only place that could manufacture them was the Azure Sky Empire. So, the Empire prepared a batch of experimental equipment with the intent of getting information back from Isrile and Ruosha.

Once the Emperor of Azure Sky learned that the equipment was taken by a secret buyer, they immediately knew it must have been purchased by Isrile, and the information that quickly came back confirmed this guess.

Now, they just had to wait for their signal. As soon as information was transmitted from there, everyone related to that planet would be secretly apprehended.

But this was definitely not something that could be accomplished in a day or two.

[...]

Since the Ancient Mage Tower withdrew its forces, there had been no news for quite a long time. Long Yi, despite having eyes and ears spread across the entire Plane, found that the Ancient Mage Tower had seemingly vanished without a trace.

At this moment, however, Long Yi heard another piece of news: a large number of the ancient Powerhouses who had hidden themselves were disappearing.

In the past, a great battle with Long Yi had taught most of the ancient Powerhouses to be humble. Those who normally loved to meddle in worldly affairs for the first time retracted their influence completely, curling up on their hidden planets, trembling at the thought that Long Yi might decide to confront them on a whim.

In fact, when the Ancient Mage Tower began to move against Long Yi, many ancient Powerhouses were thrilled, believing that the Ancient Mage Tower was on their side. Together, they dreamed that once Long Yi was eliminated, the era that belonged to the ancient Powerhouses would come again. Even at the start, when the Ancient Mage Tower decided to take direct control of the nations of the Plane, many ancient Powerhouses were behind them, stirring things up. However, as Long Yi forcefully drove the forces of the Ancient Mage Tower out of the Plane, these ancient Powerhouses felt a disastrous doom was upon them, filled with dread and unable to enjoy a single day of peace.

Long Yi was aware of all of this because there were always those who kept Ai Lin informed.

That person was Lou Aran.

Since that great battle, Lou Aran had essentially become the spokesperson amongst the ancient Powerhouses for Long Yi’s and Ai Lin’s faction. Although he too remained in seclusion, he had not been fearful since he had taken the right side during the previous struggle. In fact, it was only when the Ancient Mage Tower decided to target Long Yi that he felt a trace of unease. But this unease dissipated as Long Yi powerfully expelled the Tower’s influence from the Plane.

Ever since that great battle, Lou Aran had maintained contact with Ai Lin, and at the same time, many ancient Powerhouses had occasionally expressed their goodwill towards Ai Lin and Long Yi through him. Thus, Lou Aran’s role as a middleman was quite enjoyable.

However, recently Lou Aran had noticed something strange: a number of ancient Powerhouses were disappearing one after another. And the disappearance process was utterly unknown to anyone, which was very unsettling. Thus, Lou Aran urgently reported this matter to Ai Lin. Ai Lin and Long Yi immediately set off to visit the secluded planets of some ancient Powerhouses and discovered that, although the structures were still there, some personal items had vanished.

"They were not kidnapped, they left of their own volition," Ai Lin said.

"It seems the Ancient Mage Tower has found more allies," Long Yi laughed.

"So what do we do next?" Ai Lin asked.

"Next, we simply need to see what the Ancient Mage Tower is really preparing to do!" Long Yi said. (To be continued.
