Chapter 1135 - 885 I am a Giant

"Yes, I am the Black Dragon," the old Dragon Emperor said.

"So, were you also among those who advocated for battle against the Giants?"

Long Yi’s question caught the old dragon off-guard, as it seemed unrelated to the current matter. The old dragon opened his mouth and glanced at Little Zi beside him, a look of shame on his face as he said, "Ah! I really didn’t expect that even after nearly ten thousand years, there would still be someone who’d bring up this matter."

"I’m curious," Long Yi said.

The old dragon’s expression turned despondent as he admitted, "Yes, I confess, I was in favor of the war. When we heard the command from the Dragon Emperor, like most of the Black Dragons, I was extremely excited. We had long held disdain for those Giants who advocated for helping others across the entire multiverse; this universe was created by the great gods, who gave the universe its own laws and each creature its way of survival. But the Giants saw themselves as saviors, traveling on every planet where gods had left life, bestowing wisdom on beings that shouldn’t possess it; giving power to those who shouldn’t have it; even accelerating the evolution of life by tens of thousands of years! Who do Giants think they are, gods? Did someone grant them this power?"

Speaking thus far, the old dragon grew visibly agitated, his face reflecting a nostalgic sentiment: "Do you know? This is what the Elders told me before we set out, it fired up all of us youths, making us eager to rush forward and slaughter all those Giants. In fact, we didn’t really like those self-righteous bastards ourselves. But when the war started, we realized just how much stronger those always good-tempered Giants were than we had thought. Although they rarely confronted us head-on, they always had some bizarre little contraptions that completely baffled us."

His face filled with frustration, the old dragon continued, "A hundred of us Black Dragons formed a raiding party to hunt down three Giants; it took us a whole seven days to actually catch them, but it only took them ten seconds to break free from our magic, then tear through space to escape once more. And it wasn’t just me, almost every single one of the dragons met with the same fate. I even heard that in the first month of the war, there were no casualties at all between the Giants and the Dragon Clan. The Giants were just retreating, while the Dragon Clan was constantly in pursuit."

Then, the expression on the old dragon’s face started to shift.

"Until that fateful day came, a day I could never forget. One of the Black Dragons captured a Giant’s child, about your size. We didn’t know his name, just that a group of nearly driven mad Black Dragons publicly executed the child. And then, everything changed."

"For the first time, we discovered that even the Giants, who usually seemed indifferent about various matters, could become furious. They might still have smiles on their faces even when fleeing, but this time their smiles disappeared. The trivial contraptions used for escaping were replaced with retaliation gear; the Giants began to strike back. They used their laughable construction tools to tear Dragon Clan members to shreds, their welding equipment to set us ablaze, their logging tools to cut us apart, even their Teleportation Gates to rip us into pieces. Before long, Golems appeared—those huge metal machines initially made for menial tasks started cutting down Dragon Clan lives with terrifying efficiency. And later on, there were even powerful golems made entirely of Fine Gold."

"It was only then that we realized how absurd our imagined battle was. It turned out the Giants had never seriously fought us; they were just playing along."

"However, it was only for that brief period. Smiles returned to the Giant’s faces as they started departing one after another, vanishing into the multiverse. Before they left, though, they inflicted a terrifying curse upon us, and I still cannot forget the words from the Giant that was disappearing into thin air: ’My brethren, maybe the day you lose all your powers and hope for the future, you will truly be able to live in peace with other races.’"

"Now, I understand; we have lost our power, we have no future, and I comprehend everything, but it’s all too late. So, you ask me if I was a warmonger? My answer would be: ’Yes, I was, and I am deeply ashamed of it.’"

The old dragon wept, having never confided these words to anyone before, waking to find everything changed, utterly bewildered. And now his own child had been taken; he truly had lost everything!

He didn’t know how Long Yi had won the favor of two members of the Dragon Clan, but he believed that Long Yi must have some understanding of the whole situation.

"Alright, I believe you," Long Yi said, not asking Little Zi, able to see that the old dragon’s sorrow wasn’t an act. Little Zi subsequently confirmed Long Yi’s impression.

"So, I have another question," Long Yi continued.

"What question?" the old dragon asked, striving to emerge from his sadness.

"Where are the dragons of this plane?"

This question from Long Yi caught the old dragon by surprise; he had never expected Long Yi to ask something like this. The reason he had opened up to Long Yi with such heartfelt words was because he had bottled them up for so long, not daring to share them with anyone. And the appearance of Long Yi with two dragons convinced the old dragon that Long Yi was aware of history from that era – an era with no Fairy Dragons. Thus, he assumed the two girls with Long Yi were transformed members of the Dragon Clan, although he knew only the Elders could transform into humans. And even though they were two young beauties, it didn’t affect his perception; he was absolutely certain in his sensing of the Dragon Clan.

But now, when Long Yi asked about the whereabouts of the other dragons, he instantly became alert.

"I, I don’t know,"

the old dragon said.

"Are you sure lying to me will do you any good?"

Little Zi chimed in from the side.

The old dragon’s face was filled with helplessness.

"I know, yes, I come from there, but I definitely won’t tell you where they lie in slumber, Mr. Long Yi. They have already lost their power; you cannot drag them into your war!"

The old dragon spoke loudly.

"I strongly suggest you consider carefully, then tell me your decision."

Long Yi raised his hand and placed it on the old dragon’s shoulder. A surge of the Giant’s power flowed into him, causing the old dragon first to startle, and then his eyes widened in shock.

"You! You are!!!"

The old dragon’s entire body violently trembled, such immense power of the Giant was definitely not something one could typically possess by just inheriting a few legacies of the Giants—it was from a true Giant!

"Pioneer!"

The old dragon had always been curious why Long Yi was so powerful and why he had the Dragon Clan following him. It turned out Long Yi was a Giant!

"This... I... Pioneer... Have Giants truly returned?" The old dragon, who had just been speaking coherently, suddenly didn’t know what to say.

"As you can see, I am the Pioneer of the Giants. I accept your criticism of the Giants and also forgive your guilt. Now can you tell me, where exactly are those sleeping members of the Dragon Clan?" said Long Yi.

"Pioneer, can you tell me, why have you come here?" the old dragon asked with a concerned expression.

"Probably to prepare for the return, I guess? I’m not quite sure either, but it’s certainly not for vengeance, rest assured," Long Yi said.

"Yes, I believe you would never seek revenge. Because with the power of the Giants, if you wished to annihilate the Dragon Clan, that curse would not have ended up like this," the old dragon nodded, his face still filled with curiosity as he looked at Long Yi.

"You’ve seen Giants before, haven’t you? Do you really have to stare at me like this? And you still won’t tell me where those sleeping dragons are," said Long Yi helplessly.

"You... wish to find them, to do what?" the old dragon asked again.

"Hmm, to seek their help," Long Yi said directly.

"But they have no strength left," the old dragon quickly said.

Then Long Yi laughed, a laugh that made the old dragon somewhat baffled. Suddenly, the old dragon’s eyeballs bulged.

Yes! Long Yi was a Giant! If Long Yi were seeking the help of the Dragon Clan, he couldn’t expect a bunch of powerless dragons to jump to their aid!

"As a Pioneer, I cannot lift the entire curse, but I can at least restore the strength of the Dragon Clan to the peak of this Plane," Long Yi said.

"Really?" the old dragon couldn’t believe his ears.

"Have you ever seen a Giant lie?" Long Yi countered.

"Never! Not once! But..."

"I could also swear on my Giant’s soul," Long Yi said.

"No, no, no, that’s not necessary, I believe you!"

It turned out that those members of the Dragon Clan were truly sleeping deep within this planet. Originally, the dragons, sensing they were gradually losing their power, had gathered here to dig incredibly deep pits to prepare for their long slumber, but one dragon would not sleep and would always guard them. They agreed that every two thousand years or so, when that dragon was about to die, it would awaken the next dragon, and so on, perpetually. In fact, the old dragon had also just awakened his own offspring not long ago. If it weren’t to prevent the people from the Ancient Mage Tower from staying here any longer, the old dragon really wouldn’t have agreed to let Elma take his child, but for the safety of nearly a thousand sleeping dragons, the old dragon had to make a painful decision.

The old dragon led Long Yi and the others to a secret entrance. At the end of what seemed a cave, there was a Teleportation Array, a magic that only the Dragon Clan could use. Passing through the Teleportation Array to reach deep underground, the vast underground cavern resounded with heavy breathing and heartbeat sounds.

All around the cavern were many gems, emitting a soft light, and Long Yi didn’t need to switch to low-light vision to see everything clearly. On one side of the cavern, rocks had been shaped by magic into countless platforms, upon each platform lay a Giant Dragon! There were dragons of all colors, with Black Dragons being the most numerous, White Dragons the second, and dragons of other colors also intermingled among them. (To be continued.
