Chapter 1141 - 891: A New Journey
All the military ships within this plane were equipped with cannons, but their firepower could only be described with a ’heh.’ However, the Ancient Mage Tower was the greatest legacy left by the Giants, and the power of its light cannon was unquestionable.
And yet, the Divine Armor Mages not only withstood a blast from the Ancient Mage Tower’s light cannon but also, on their second exchange, even managed to fire back at it!
The result of this exchange clearly terrified the Ancient Mage Tower; they immediately withdrew all their Semi-Crazy Demon Mages and vanished by tearing through space.
To everyone’s eyes, it seemed that the Ancient Mage Tower had indeed been frightened away. No one could have imagined such an occurrence, who would have thought that the almighty Ancient Mage Tower could be scared off?
Was this truly because Long Yi was too powerful?
For a time, public opinion across the plane started to clearly lean in one direction. Especially those planets that had previously kept silent now dared to speak out— in their view, the Ancient Mage Tower was no longer the strongest entity within this plane, Long Yi was!
This victory also gave the Divine Auffa Empire, as well as the Sanctuary Empire, a shot of adrenaline. Although their initial encounters with the Ancient Mage Tower had ended in victory, those weren’t a true representation of its strength. But this time, as the Ancient Mage Tower initiated the provocation, they were bound to show their real power. The Divine Armor Mages, despite being outnumbered, ultimately triumphed. It had to be said, this was an indisputable victory.
When these victorious soldiers returned, they were welcomed like heroes and their military units even put in special requests for their awards.
Naturally, Long Yi was very pleased with this victory, as everything had gone exactly as he had predicted. But he also felt a tinge of regret because, in this battle, the opposition hadn’t provided any surprises for Long Yi. Instead, it was Long Yi’s side that had exposed some of their cards.
While it couldn’t be said to be a loss, they certainly hadn’t gained an advantage either.
On the other hand, within the Ancient Mage Tower, Elma had locked himself in his room for several days now, not even wishing to see Zulal. Elma was continuously going through all of the research reports within the Ancient Mage Tower, looking for something useful to counter the Divine Armor Mages.
And indeed, he found it.
Magic Resonance, so this was the method they’d been using?
In one researcher’s report, he discovered a rare phenomenon of magic resonance. Under specific conditions, magic could cause resonance, altering its original characteristics. If properly harnessed, this resonance could lead to unexpected effects.
Clearly, while Elma was still researching, Long Yi had already started to take advantage of this resonating effect. To this, Elma was accustomed since Long Yi was always a step ahead. However, he wasn’t concerned. Relying on the research and development capabilities of the Ancient Mage Tower, he could find a countermeasure in a very short time.
"Zulal!" Elma called out as he opened his room door. Zulal, who had been staying close by, not daring to leave, promptly approached, "Master Elma, what are your orders?"
"Find this person for me, elevate his clearance, and give him anything he wants, just make sure he finds a way to counter the Divine Armor!" said Elma.
"Yes, Master Elma!" Zulal took the report from Elma’s hand, glanced at it briefly, then hurried away.
"Come on, Long Yi, I know you’re always one step ahead. But I’ll catch up soon, and once I have strength equal to yours, what will you be able to do?"
Returning to the Giants’ laboratory, Suolin once again became a star figure there. Despite stunning advances in the science of time during the millennia without Suolin, including the development of a portable device capable of short-duration time travel, they still hadn’t found a suitable traveler. Without one, these so-called amazing advancements remained theoretical, lacking the test of practice.
Even the Giants, intelligent and powerful, couldn’t understand why this was the case. A millennium had passed, and the Giants still hadn’t found a suitable traveler, with the few attempted experiments ending in failure.
Fortunately, Suolin had returned.
The lifespan of Giants was extremely long, so aside from a larger and more complex laboratory, there wasn’t much change among the scientists upon Suolin’s comeback.
And with Suolin’s return, it meant that time travel experiments could once again be initiated.
"Calm down, old Walter. Better make sure of your data," Suolin stood on the brand-new Time Bridge, smiling as she spoke to Walter. Her personal space now included many valuable items, even a portable time travel device that couldn’t change locations, only working in situ, and the travel period before and after activation couldn’t exceed a hundred years. According to old Walter, this device was for correcting errors because long-distance spacetime travel could result in significant discrepancies; using this device for a single correction could significantly narrow down the target time period.
"How could I not be excited? This is the initation of time travel once again after a millennium! Without you, we have no time travel research data, and without that, we were almost at a loss for what to do!" said a beaming Walter.
The new Time Bridge was obviously built with Giants in mind, immensely large, and Suolin felt quite spacious standing within it. So she thought about it and simply switched to her Dragon Clan form, but the moment she did, she found that all her power in that form was drained!
Indeed, the curse from the Giant was still in effect.
"Huh? There’s something wrong with the indicators of your body, have you encountered some trouble?" Old Walter looked at the small tablet in his hands and said.
"Yes, a few minor accidents." Suolin’s last trip coincided with the end of the war between the Dragon Clan and the Giants, during which the Dragon Clan was cursed by the Giants. However, she couldn’t explain exactly what happened, because after all, it took place in the future.
Old Walter nodded and waved his hand behind him, immediately two Giants came over and conducted a thorough examination of Suolin.
"Boss, Miss Suolin seems to have undergone direct genetic modification, causing her to lose all her powers and... and the ability to reproduce," said one Giant.
"Modified genetic material? That kind of thing... Well, can it be restored?" Walter asked.
"Heh, of course it can, it’s all too simple," the Giant turned and went out, and after a while, he brought back a small syringe, filled with a golden liquid.
"We have already meticulously coded and stored the genetic material of all members of the Dragon Clan, so this kind of targeted change to genetic material can be treated with just a single injection."
As the Giant spoke, he injected the liquid from the syringe into the dragon-shaped Suolin’s body. Soon, Suolin felt her lost powers returning. Not only were they restored, but they were even stronger than before!
Although Suolin had been freed from the curse in the past, that was ultimately the handiwork of Long Yi, who didn’t actually know what curse the Giants had placed on the Dragon Clan. And now, here among the Giants, with the help of their technology, it was quite easy to clarify exactly what had happened. The treatment given to Suolin wasn’t just a temporary fix, but it used a potion to restore Suolin’s rightful Dragon Clan encoding all over again. This turned Suolin from an incomplete member of the Dragon Clan into a thoroughbred, feeling an unprecedented surge of power within her. Suolin couldn’t help but reflect on the Dragons who had originally provoked the Giants; what seemed a trivial curse to Giants was an unbearable suffering for the Dragons at another point in time.
"How do you feel?" asked Walter.
"I feel, stronger than ever before," Suolin said, transforming back into human form. Due to the shared nature of both bodies, she was now even more powerful. This increase in strength resulted in the fine gold layering on her body becoming denser, her whole being taking on a dark golden hue, as if she were made of metal.
"So this time, we’re going to try a rather distant transmission, what do you think?" Walter asked Suolin.
"There shouldn’t be any problem." Suolin knew from Long Yi that fine gold could stabilize time and space, which is why she could safely perform space-time transmissions. Of course, the further and longer the transmission through time and space, the less stable it became. Suolin could feel the fine gold coating on her skin becoming denser now, which should help her.
"Ah, right, here’s something for you," Walter handed Suolin a small earpiece. "Put this in your ear; it can detect environmental changes around you and warn you of potential threats in a timely manner."
Suolin took it and put it in her ear, immediately hearing a voice inside: "Successfully connected to the space-time traveler, neural signal synchronization successful, standing by."
Quite a nifty gadget.
Once again, Suolin prepared on the Time Bridge, as Walter adjusted for a time in the far distant future. Each space-time journey couldn’t adjust the time precisely, it can only aim for a rough range, so currently, no one knew exactly when they would end up.
The Time Bridge activated, a massive amount of energy pouring into the Time Bridge. Beneath her feet, giant clockwork gears appeared, and two large, ethereal hands suddenly appeared, directly altering the gears and hands!
"I don’t recall the Time Bridge activation being this flashy last time," shouted Suolin.
"Hahaha! This was Long Yi’s idea, said it looked more intuitive this way, you can see what stage it’s at!" shouted Walter.
Long Yi? Long Yi again? Last time Suolin had heard that there was also a child named Long Yi in this time, small in stature who liked to run around. She had wanted to meet him but didn’t have the chance, and now it was Long Yi again?
"When I return this time, I definitely want to meet that Long Yi!" Suolin shouted.
"Haha, sure, when he comes back, I’ll tell him to wait for you!" said Walter.
Space and time distorted, Suolin once more entered the space-time tunnel. Despite it not being her first space-time journey, traversing such a great length of time was a first for her, while that little device in her ear continuously reported the current time. It was already ten thousand years later in the blink of an eye, and the timeline was still advancing. Another ten thousand years passed in the blink of an eye, and the journey was yet to end.
The longer the journey through time, the greater the burden on the body, and Suolin was barely maintaining herself with the density of the fine gold layer. Surprisingly, wear and tear began showing on that layer of fine gold! Luckily, the fine gold on Suolin’s skin wasn’t armor, but naturally generated by her skin and could replenish itself at any time; otherwise, an unexpected event could have occurred this time.
Only after thirty thousand years did the exit of the time tunnel finally open before her. Suolin leaped out of the space-time tunnel into a pitch-black space.
Where was this?
Using Dark Vision, Suolin discovered to her astonishment that this was a classroom in the Imperial Dragon Knight Academy of the White Dragon Empire! She knew this because, at the front of the classroom, hung a portrait labeled "The Greatest Emperor of the White Dragon Empire, Kirei." And below the portrait, on the gigantic blackboard, someone had carved the words with sword and blade: "Humans will never be destroyed!" (To be continued.
