Chapter 1158 - 908 Formulaic Architecture
Demotion meant losing everything: current status, current resources. But this was a direct order from the Apostles, and no one could defy it. Several people dejectedly sat on the ground, faces filled with despair, souls seemingly wandering, but the Apostles had already left.
The core group was brimming with confidence, as they were more familiar with the topic and thus could unravel more in a short period of time. Having always dealt with the Apostles, the members of the core group were not nervous in the face of the Apostles and talked eloquently about any issue. Members of the ordinary and elite groups listened attentively; at first, they could understand and even had moments of sudden realization. But as time went on, they could no longer understand—the advanced content was completely beyond their grasp!
It was like trying to comprehend the divine script as they listened to the conversation between the core group and the Apostles end, yet the Apostles were not satisfied.
"As a core group, you have only been able to research to this extent. To be honest, we are not satisfied. You should be able to do much more," an Apostle said.
The members of the core group lowered their heads one after another, the smug expressions on their faces vanishing.
Last was the group of Isrile and Ruosha.
There were only two of them, and both were minors.
"So, what have you researched? Show us," an Apostle said.
"Before we present our findings, may I ask a question?" Ruosha spoke up.
"You may," an Apostle responded.
"May I know the ultimate purpose of what you asked us to research?" Ruosha asked.
"There is no particular purpose, just some reserve knowledge for research," the Apostle replied.
"I don’t buy that. Considering all the projects we have researched recently, there must be an ultimate purpose. Without reaching that ultimate purpose, there can’t be such a thing as reserve knowledge," Ruosha argued.
The Apostle was taken aback and instinctively became alert.
"Oh? Then tell me, what is our ultimate purpose?" another Apostle asked with a smile.
"I guess it must be to open a space fissure and communicate with the life forms within it," Ruosha confidently said.
The six Apostles immediately smiled. Indeed, a child was still a child with limited understanding.
"Yes, you are right, smart child," the Apostle said.
"Therefore, if we approach the problem you presented with this line of thought, it actually becomes quite solvable."
As Ruosha spoke, she signaled Isrile, who immediately stepped forward, taking out a large white paper from her personal space, densely filled with complex magic symbols.
"Based on the problem you provided, after a series of simple deductions and adding some simple formulas and runes, we finally came up with this model," Isrile explained as she walked forward.
Mana surged as Isrile approached, and suddenly, a structure resembling a gigantic Rune pyramid materialized on the paper!
Yes, it was a structure entirely composed of formulas and runes, incredibly complex and beautiful, with mana flowing unobstructedly through the seemingly intricate construction, ultimately converging into the small orb at the very top!
"Since the problem was too simple, we sisters decided to delve deeper into the research during most of the remaining time, and the result turned out to be unexpectedly remarkable," Ruosha said.
The six Apostles, along with Zuo La and everyone around, gazed at the massive magical Rune structure in awe. Even they had never seen such beautiful runes and formulas.
"How in the world did you manage this?" Zuo La asked in astonishment.
"It’s quite simple really. Just keep adding the runes and formulas we need, without any simplification or canceling out, and eventually, you get something like this," Ruosha explained.
"This works too?" Zuo La had actually studied this matter to a certain extent, as Zemir had once brought the blueprints and some of the content. He knew then that the content was already complex enough, but what he could not have imagined was that the final result could be so complex!
"Do you need us to explain this structure?" Isrile asked.
"No, please let us take a look for ourselves first," an Apostle said. He was the same one who had criticized that proud core group before, a very strict man, but now he used the word "please" with Isrile and Ruosha, indicating he had already begun to regard the two girls with a measure of respect.
The six Apostles, along with Zuo La, and everyone else concentrated on the giant magical Rune structure. Viewing it from just one angle was not enough to discern its architecture. The group kept changing their positions, some frowning thoughtfully, others engaging in heated discussions. They moved slowly, and in the span of an hour, they hadn’t even examined several layers. Isrile, fighting off boredom, yawned widely, and Ruosha simply took out a bag of snacks from her personal space; they both retreated to a corner to leisurely handle their snack cravings.
Several hours passed, and Isrile and Ruosha had returned from the dining hall by the time the group of Apostles finally reached the upper layers. The six, along with Zuo La, huddled together in intense discussion, obviously stuck on the last two steps. They were sharply divided into two factions with opposing views, their debate flooded with arcane terms that were incomprehensible even to the core researchers. None could convince the others, each believing themselves to be the most logical.
Just as the standoff was at a stalemate, Zemir suddenly spoke up, "Why don’t we just ask Lily and Sasa what’s going on?"
Instantly, all the Apostles stopped, as it was clear that Zemir had a point.
"Miss Sasa, could you please explain to us?" Zuo La approached Ruosha as if a student was seeking guidance from a teacher.
"Sure, no problem. I thought you guys would keep discussing like this," Ruosha said with a giggly smile.
The Apostles stepped aside to let Ruosha approach the massive Rune construction. Ruosha nodded to Isrile behind her, who immediately cast Magic to start simplifying and merging the entire huge Rune structure.
"I believe you’ve all grasped my solution process, so I’m going to start combining like terms now," Ruosha said.
Then the immense structure began to streamline and shrink; the large volume of the building gradually left a single tower in front of everyone. The tower then continued to shorten, shorten, and shorten until finally, only the sphere of light at the top of the building remained!
"So, as you can see, the Runes below were merely part of the process to solve the equation, a process that can be combined and simplified away, and this sphere of light is the final outcome," Ruosha said.
Then, what is the result?
Isrile casually tossed aside the papers filled with formulas and Runes, cupped the sphere of light in her hands, which shattered amidst twinkling, to reveal a Fissure!
"One! Two! Three!"
Pop!
The Fissure disappeared from Isrile’s hands, but the space Fissure that had lasted a full three seconds had every person present bulging their eyes.
Madness!
Everyone, including the Apostles, had lost it.
Space fissures could remain open for more than a year. However, the time that space fissures stayed open in a Fissure had always been measured in milliseconds, but now, Ruosha and Isrile had demonstrated a space Fissure that lasted three seconds—one of the top challenges here!
"You actually did it!" Zuo La felt his own voice trembling.
"Remember why we came here? Because we’ve been researching this issue as well, and this so-called test you proposed happens to aid our research. So, after solving your problem and having plenty of time left, it just became our problem!" Ruosha said with a smile.
Everyone present was staggered. Zemir knew these two girls were geniuses, but he had never imagined they could be so prodigiously talented, especially in opening a Fissure for three seconds—a top tier problem here!
"So, about this test, did we pass?" Isrile asked.
"You passed. You proved your abilities with your actions, so I sincerely invite you to join our Core Research Institute and become core researchers!" an Apostle said.
"Tch, what a waste of time. You should’ve let us join earlier and saved us all this trouble!" Isrile grimaced.
"Yes, I suppose that was our mistake," the Apostle said with a smile, always patient with talented individuals.
"Alright, instructor Zemir, please pack up our experiment equipment. We’re moving!" Ruosha called out to Zemir.
"This..." Zemir looked troubled as he glanced at Zuo La, for he was just an ordinary instructor with neither the power nor the reason to join in.
Zuo La pondered momentarily, then nodded and said, "Zemir, what are you waiting for? Get moving!"
Zemir instantly understood that his opportunity had come unexpectedly! A mere ordinary man like himself now had the chance to enter the core! It was simply divine!
At that moment, even Zemir’s eyes were slightly moistened. He had been mixing in here for many years, and although his loyalty to Star Devourers was evident, his limited power meant he wasn’t even elite, let alone core. But now, by the merit of two young girls’ achievements, he was entering the core!
This was quite literally a meteoric rise! Amidst envious stares, Zemir left the room to prepare for Isrile and Ruosha’s departure. Joining the Core Research Institute was a major event that couldn’t afford the slightest negligence. The other four teams undergoing the test were filled with envy; such youthful individuals already achieving so much, how could they not be envious?
"Finally, no need to waste time here anymore," Ruosha exhaled in relief.
"I’m not sure about that. The stuff these people research isn’t anything special, I think we’re better off doing our research," Isrile muttered.
At that moment, Zuo La walked over: "If you leave now, you’ll regret it for the rest of your lives because soon you will witness the greatest miracle in the entire Plane!" (To be continued.
