Chapter 1244 - 992: A Powerful War Machine
The Elder Okaman roared loudly, his Fighting Aura swelling to its limit, transforming into a tangible suit of Fighting Aura armor, while his battle axe was even further covered in a dense plating.
Clang!
Clang!
Clang!
The two heavy battle axes continuously clashed against each other. What surprised Elsa was that the Elder Okaman actually had a slight edge. Normally, Elsa’s physique was far superior to that of an average member of the Celestial Clan; after receiving Long Yi’s training, her growth had been even more remarkable; and the result of the Giant’s power coursing through her body was that her own brute strength was also astonishingly formidable; and now, having embraced the power of the Ghost Spirits, Elsa’s physical condition was even more victorious than before. Yet even so, she was still suppressed by her opponent in this first exchange of blows!
These Okamans were so strong!
Elsa immediately understood why, historically, all races held such a dread of the Okaman. This not-so-intelligent race was simply a born war machine, the elder Okaman before her hardly possessed any outstanding combat skills, relying entirely on stacking brute forces. But the stacking of these brute forces brought out the battle axe’s power to its fullest potential. Although Elsa was very agile, she was far behind in terms of absolute attacking power. Several times she managed to hit her opponent but failed to penetrate his Fighting Aura armor.
That was the problem.
"Hahaha, little girl, are you feeling there’s no way out? Don’t worry! I won’t bully you! Hand over the battle axe in your possession, keep your promise, and you are free to leave as if you had never come!" the Elder Okaman laughed boisterously.
"No, you misunderstood. I was just contemplating how I should defeat you without making you feel too embarrassed," Elsa replied.
"Tough girl, aren’t you? In that case, I won’t hold back! Just don’t cry when it’s time!" the Elder Okaman bellowed, and continued to pounce towards Elsa. Elsa knew that if she kept fighting this petty battle, she might really lose. Suddenly, a pair of immaculate white Light Wings burst forth on her back, her pure Fighting Aura of Light instantly enveloped her entire body, and the battle axe in her hand shone magnificently!
At this moment, Elsa wasn’t using any of the Ghost Spirits’ power, but solely the Power of Light she was born with—she wanted her opponent to be thoroughly convinced in defeat!
The Elder Okaman had thought he was guaranteed victory, but when Elsa erupted with an astonishing Fighting Aura of Light, he instantly realized he had greatly underestimated the young girl before him.
The battle philosophy of the Okaman was incredibly simplistic; to prove someone’s strength, there were only two rigid criteria: brute force and Fighting Aura. In the eyes of the Okaman, Mana was something only weaklings liked to use; true warriors should charge forth themselves and slay the enemy.
In the recent battle, Elsa had not used much Fighting Aura, relying mostly on her absolute strength. Although this strength had not breached the Elder Okaman’s defense, it had won his respect. And now, as Elsa unleashed such formidable Fighting Aura, the Elder Okaman immediately knew he was up against a formidable foe.
With the enhancement of Fighting Aura, Elsa’s speed and strength were further elevated, and the Elder Okaman’s Fighting Aura armor was finally penetrated repeatedly. Wounds appeared on his body.
To Elsa’s surprise, every time she injured the Elder Okaman, the surrounding Okamans who were watching actually cheered for her. Indeed, their worship of powerhouses was not just talk; it came from the heart.
"Hmph, not bad, girl. I admit I underestimated you just now!" The Elder Okaman looked down at the gorgeous battle axe. Notches had already appeared on the blade, causing him considerable grief.
"So did I. I originally thought I could settle the fight with just a few moves," Elsa said.
"Heh, then let’s both stop holding back and show our true power!"
The Elder Okaman roared again, and his Fighting Aura surged even further while his originally grey skin turned red in the blink of an eye, and his entire body swelled!
"Berserker! Berserker!" the surrounding Okamans shouted loudly.
The Berserker form was a trademark of the Okamans. An Okaman entering the Berserker form for a short period could possess incredible speed, immense strength, high Fighting Aura output, and remarkable self-healing. During this time, the Berserker’s sense of pain would be completely shut off. It was precisely the Okamans in their Berserker form who had held off the Demon Clan army at the frontlines during the great war between the three realms and had given enough time to the other races of Heaven Realm to prepare for a counterattack.
These terms, usually found only in history, now appeared before Elsa, and she dared not slack off at all.
One, immense in size and forceful in his moves; the other, petite and agile. The two kept colliding, each exchange unpredictable. Elsa could sense the power contained within her opponent, so she couldn’t possibly go head-to-head. Reliant on her nimble movements to dodge the lethal attacks, she watched for opportunities to strike back.
Although the Okaman Berserker was powerful, the biggest issue remained the same as that of the entire Okaman race—not flexible or adaptable enough. Elsa quickly found a pattern in the Berserker’s combat style. If this were in a large-scale Legion battle, the term "invincible" might have really applied.
It’s a pity you’re facing me!
Elsa seized an opportunity, suddenly raising her battle axes high and charging forward; the Okaman was already irritated by Elsa’s evasive maneuvering. Suddenly seeing Elsa charging at him directly, he sneered inwardly. If you kept running and fighting, I might not be your match. If you confront me directly like this, how can I be afraid of you!
Boom!
Two exquisitely crafted battle axes collided, surging Fighting Aura continuously poured into the axes, and the powerful Fighting Aura churned between the blades. Although the Okaman Elder appeared to be massive in stature, he did not gain any advantage!
"Little girl! Not bad!" Amidst the stalemate, the Okaman Elder spoke.
"As a purely brute force style of combat, you’ve surprised me as well!" Elsa said, and it was indeed the truth. This Okaman Elder was more difficult to deal with than most of the warriors from the Celestial Clan.
"But, I’ve got this in the bag!" The Okaman Elder suddenly grinned.
"Why?" Elsa asked.
"Because, my strength is greater!" With that, the Okaman Elder held the battle axe in one hand, while the other hand clenched into a fist and shot straight towards Elsa!
"No! There’s clearly one thing you’ve got wrong." Elsa suddenly said with a smile.
"If we’re talking about strength, I’m much stronger than you!"
The two Light Wings behind Elsa unexpectedly transformed, morphing into two larger fists, one left and one right, squeezing the Elder in the middle! Realizing the dire situation, the Elder tried to retreat, but Elsa had already followed up!
Bang!
The two fists composed of light Fighting Aura hit the Elder hard, and the worn-out arena was instantly filled with dust. The surrounding Okaman people even began to cheer loudly.
"Stop the damn cheering! I’m still your Elder!" From the center of the dust, a cursed voice came. Immediately, Fighting Aura dispersed the dust, and the Elder walked out somewhat disheveled, yet without any visible injuries.
"I concede, you’ve won!" The Elder said. His red skin reverted to gray, and his massive size returned to normal.
Elsa was a bit stunned; she had not expected the opponent to concede so readily. Although she believed she would definitely win in the end, the opponent had just taken one hit and given up?
Thud!
The battle axe Elsa had recently thrown was also tossed back to her.
"I thought you might hold out a little longer." Elsa said, picking up the ornate battle axe.
"I admit you are stronger than me, and you are also stronger than any Celestial Clan person. I couldn’t deal with you quickly even in my Berserker form, so once my Berserker state wore off, I would be even less likely to be your match. We Okaman might be dimwitted, but we’re not fools; we can see the outcome clearly, and when victory and defeat are evident, there is no point in wasting time."
While saying this, the Okaman Elder kept his eyes pinned on the battle axe in Elsa’s hand. To be honest, he really wanted that axe, but as the one who lost the battle, he had no right to keep someone else’s property.
"So, since I’ve won, can we have a proper conversation now?" Elsa said.
"Ah, you just want to know what your father said, right? Follow us." The amiable Okaman Elder finally spoke.
Back in the building of the Great Elder’s Council, the good-natured Okaman Elder handed Elsa a piece of paper, which bore the handwriting of the Celestial Clan’s First Prince Sajia. This paper roughly outlined the promises the Emperor of the Celestial Clan had made to the Okaman people, and these promises differed little from what the Okaman Vanguard had proposed earlier. It meant that the Emperor was indeed planning to provide military aid for the Okaman people.
"Actually, I have a question I’m very curious about." Elsa suddenly asked.
"Go ahead, mighty Princess Elsa." The Elder asked.
"Would you ultimately choose war if there was a way to live well without it?" Elsa asked.
"Hahaha! Are you joking, Princess Elsa? Though we are adept at combat, it is simply a means of livelihood for us. If we could lie down and be as affluent as you Celestial Clan people, who would choose warfare? Even though the gods endowed us with the talent for battle, we are not war machines. Even if we’re not the brightest, we understand which way of life is better, don’t we?"
Hearing the Elder’s response, Elsa laughed. Indeed, both what she had witnessed and the Elder’s answer had given her a complete understanding of the Okaman race.
Clearly, it was not that they did not want a peaceful life, but apart from battling, they simply were not good at anything else! (To be continued. If you like this work, you’re welcome to vote for it and support it on qidian.com. Mobile users, please go to m.qidian.com to continue reading.)
