Chapter 1295 - 1043: Leviathan Worm
"Can we communicate?" Long Yi sent this thought through the strength of a Giant.
"You are... Giant..." Intermittent consciousness came from within the Worm aggregate. As Long Yi had guessed, these Worms had banded together, and with Fang Zuo’s brain as their reliance, they surely could communicate!
"Since communication is possible, that makes things much easier. Can you tell me why you are parasitizing on humans?" Long Yi continued to ask.
"Parasitizing? What is that?" The other side expressed a lack of understanding toward this term.
"Your current state is parasitism, you have been absorbing this person’s energy and hiding inside his body," Long Yi explained.
"No, a great being told me that this is the food she has bestowed upon us," replied the swarm of Worms.
"A great being? Like this?" Long Yi revealed his own Divine Status and Divine Power, and the swarm of Worms immediately showed submission.
"You are also a great being!" said the swarm of Worms.
"I think, exchanging information like this is too slow. I hope to directly obtain information from you," Long Yi said.
At first, Long Yi didn’t dare to make such a request, but now he could fully sense the other’s submission towards him. Therefore, he decided to take a slight risk and directly obtain information from the Worm swarm. After all, the Worm swarm’s ability to express was limited, and the knowledge he could get was also very limited.
"Yes, great being," the Worm swarm continued to reply submissively.
Long Yi wrapped the Worm swarm with Divine Power, then directly extracted its consciousness and memories. Of course, Long Yi was also very careful, fearing that the other party would make a sudden dangerous move. Fortunately, none of that happened.
Thus, various fragmented pieces of information gradually formed into an orderly picture.
In an immensely vast space, there was a Worm aggregate of unprecedented size. Because it gathered an excessive number of Worms, it possessed tremendous energy and great wisdom. In front of that Leviathan Worm aggregate floated a girl who, at first glance, seemed to be a Divine Envoy lady. But upon closer inspection, she only resembled one in form, while her aura was completely different.
"Essentially, we should be of the same kind. Helping me is equivalent to helping yourself. If in the future we succeed in breaking through to the Divine Realm and my god descends here, then all the Worms of this Plane will benefit," said the Divine Envoy.
"That’s impossible, false god. We, the Leviathan Worms, do not wish to involve ourselves in your God Wars. We do not intend to bring trouble upon ourselves, and in fact, we do not need any help," the immense Leviathan Worm aggregate roared, rejecting the false god’s offer.
"Heh, you daresay you are Leviathan Worms? That’s a name the Giants gave you! Being called Worms by Giants, don’t you feel unwilling?" the false god mocked.
"We are inherently Worms, and even now we are an aggregate of Worms. We have no regrets about this. We also have no intention of turning ourselves into humans, after all, that’s the image of the gods who created this multiverse. We are beings born in the Fissure; we don’t need such an appearance to disguise ourselves," said the Leviathan Worm aggregate.
"Tsk tsk, what should I say? Are you ungrateful? You miss out on such a good opportunity to serve the gods and just want to keep to yourself?" the false god said with a laugh.
"I know more about those divine matters than you do, false god. Those gods, in my eyes, are just beings with higher levels of energy. Any being in this multiverse could become a god once they possess that kind of high-level energy. And for such a matter, your so-called god should understand clearer than anyone else."
At this point, the false god’s face immediately became extremely ugly, clearly hit where it hurt by the Leviathan Worm aggregate.
"How do you know these things..." the false god asked in a low voice.
"Giants once researched us, Leviathan Worms. They told us that we, Leviathan Worms, are beings with infinite potential, single-poled lives. As long as we continue to accumulate infinitely, we can obtain power that transcends the Plane. A long time ago, all of us Leviathan Worms completed an unprecedented racial accumulation, which allowed us to transcend the Plane and time, freeing our consciousness from all limitations. Although it lasted only a brief moment, it let us see past and future, piercing through various barriers," said the Leviathan Worm aggregate.
"Did you learn... Don’t honestly tell your enemies so much!"
Boom!
The false god suddenly erupted with astonishing Divine Power, which struck the Leviathan Worm aggregate, shattering countless Worms.
"There’s no need for that, false god. Your future and that of your god’s has already been sealed..."
Boom! More Worms shattered.
"And even if we shatter, we merely scatter quietly in every corner of the universe..."
The false god had gone mad, crazily pouring out his Divine Power, continuously crushing all the Worms in front, causing the aggregate to shrink drastically.
"Quietly waiting for the arrival of the twilight of the gods..."
After these words, the aggregation of worms had become so small that it was no longer capable of forming any consciousness. The pseudo-god, floating in the air, watched with a cold smirk as the now significantly diminished aggregate and commanded, "Obey my orders!"
The aggregate immediately emitted a subservient ripple, and the trillions of worms around it also sent out similar subservient waves.
Then comes some details, including how these worms were broken down into extremely tiny worms that hid in the liquid inside the water tank. Then they entered human bodies, absorbed the constant supply of energy from the humans, and gathered around the human brain. In a special way, they resonated with the external Leviathan worms to control the external bodies.
In other words, those monsters were completely controlled by the Leviathan worms.
However, there were still some minor issues. Long Yi hadn’t been able to see where those tetrahedrons had come from and didn’t know where the sturdy metals that made up the Giant monsters originated. The precision of those metals wasn’t low; they definitely weren’t products that could be made in just any remote place.
These worms could completely record memories, but that was all they were—just memories. With their limited numbers, they couldn’t understand the meaning of these memories. They couldn’t even distinguish friend from foe; they were simply instinctively submissive.
Yet for these worms, Long Yi should think of a better method.
"Can you leave his body?" Long Yi asked.
"Yes," replied the worms, without any hesitation.
Long Yi took out a tiny piece of Cosmic Stone. Since the last time he used it on Little Zi, Long Yi’s stock of Cosmic Stones had almost run out. However, the energy needed by these Leviathan worms wasn’t much, so such a small piece was definitely sufficient.
Long Yi placed the Cosmic Stone on Fang Zuo’s forehead, and then he saw some transparent, tiny worms start to drill out from beneath Fang Zuo’s skin. Because they were so small, not even Fang Zuo’s skin was damaged! As the worms moved, Long Yi could see Fang Zuo’s skin ripple like waves. It took half an hour for a new worm cluster to form, and Long Yi wrapped it in a shell made of Divine Power. Now it seemed these worms had no choice but to accept the Divine Power.
Initially, Long Yi’s plan was to contain them with some sturdy material. But after inspecting the worms’ thoughts, he discovered that their structure was downright horrifying. When they attempted to penetrate through any structure, they would break themselves down into minuscule components, small enough even to pass through glass! Once they crossed a barrier, they would reaggregate.
There were two ways these Leviathan worms could aggregate. One was additive aggregation, which enhanced their consciousness and made them smarter and wiser by coming together. The other was fusion, combining countless tiny worms into larger ones, sacrificing wisdom to gain greater strength. The monsters that Long Yi had previously battled were the result of such large worms.
With the worms gone, Fang Zuo’s strength began to slowly recover, and the laboratory equipment started to correct his distorted head. However, even though the issue with the Leviathan worms was now understood, there was still a greater problem—where exactly was that pseudo-god hiding, and who was providing her with these facilities?
The enemy wasn’t the worms, but the pseudo-god, and without a doubt, that pseudo-god had to be the Divine Worm.
If these problems weren’t resolved, dealing with the Leviathan worms alone would be very difficult. Unless someone used an exceedingly powerful energy source to completely shatter the Leviathan worms like Long Yi had done before, there was no chance.
Long Yi looked at the clump of worms in his hand. He knew very well that the breakthrough still lay within these worms. But the worms he held had lost their function; he needed more worms, more information and knowledge.
"Suolin?" Long Yi called out to Suolin through the contract.
"Yes, I’m here," Suolin’s voice came from outside the laboratory door. Long Yi turned around and saw Suolin had stayed put.
"Let’s go catch some monsters," Long Yi said with a smile.
"Sure," Suolin nodded in agreement without hesitation.
Long Yi carefully observed every action of Suolin, trying to find even a trace of a clue. But Suolin smiled at that moment and said, "There will be no trouble this time."
"That’s good to hear," Long Yi also smiled. He was well aware of a few things—whenever Suolin showed up, it was a sign that he had likely set up some sort of FLAG for himself. So as long as Suolin stayed, it meant there was definitely some trouble yet unresolved.
But even Suolin herself was startled after saying that.
"Strange," Suolin remarked.
"What’s strange?" asked Long Yi.
"I shouldn’t have told you that," Suolin said.
"You can’t even tell me that?"
"Of course! If I could tell you when ’nothing will happen,’ wouldn’t that imply I can tell you when ’something will happen’?" Suolin explained.
"That makes sense!" Long Yi realized. (To be continued. If you like this work, you are welcome to vote and support at qidian.com. Your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users please visit m.qidian.com to read.)
