Chapter 1309 - 1056: Did I Take the Wrong Path?
"Kid, did you take a wrong turn?" a pirate laughed loudly.
"No, I thought these gems looked pretty nice, and I wanted to take a few!" Long Yi still chuckled. Coming to a new place where no one recognized him felt truly great. Moreover, since arriving in the Middle Plane, the first thing Long Yi had faced was a dragon-shaped Giant Monster, forcing him to summon his Fine Gold Avatar to fight with all his might, which meant he still wasn’t clear about how strong he could be in this Plane.
Now, upon seeing these pirates, Long Yi’s first thought was to test what these people were made of.
As a nearly invincible figure in the Lower Plane, Long Yi estimated his strength should still be considerable, a conclusion based on his experiences in Landers. But whether that was truly the case, he would have to see how these pirates performed.
At that moment, the pirate leader wasn’t there, and the one in charge was a squadron leader named Mahal, who hadn’t spoken because he was busy calculating how much money they could make from these minerals. Seeing Long Yi smiling and popping up, he simply gave a look to the pirate next to him and continued busying himself. A pirate blocked the people nearby, "Guys, let’s take a break; our brother lost quite a bit gambling yesterday and has been holding in his anger all day. Let’s let him vent on this punk first!"
Hearing this, a few pirates nearby laughed and stood back. Since the gambling loss, their brother had been fuming all day, and now a perfect idiot showed up to meet his doom; how could they not turn a blind eye?
"Hey hey, I’m not here to fight, brothers. Can’t we remain calm? If there’s an issue, let’s talk it out; we can discuss it!" Long Yi made a surrendering gesture.
"Thinking of backing out now? Too late!"
The pirate roared, his whole body’s Fighting Aura thundering as he pounced directly at Long Yi. In the Lower Plane, a world dominated by Mana, Long Yi had been entangled with Mana for too long. This time, seeing the opponent suddenly use Fighting Aura, he felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity. The pirate didn’t use any weapons, and Long Yi kept it hand-to-hand. Seeing the opponent rushing over, Long Yi didn’t confront him directly but sidestepped slightly, though he didn’t avoid the fierce Fighting Aura completely.
"Hmm, slightly worse than I thought. Is it because he’s too weak?"
That’s what Long Yi thought.
Seeing that Long Yi hadn’t completely dodged, the corner of the pirate’s mouth curled into a sneer as he charged at him full force again.
"Hey hey, let’s not be like this, how about being a bit more calm?" Facing the assault, Long Yi dodged again, but this time he reached out and tapped the opponent’s Fighting Aura.
The overall strength was higher than the average in the Lower Plane, but it hadn’t reached the level of the Ancient Powerhouses yet, presumably not representative of the average strength of the current Plane.
"Hehe, you’re big and tall, but surprisingly agile. What, a big guy like you is still a coward?" the pirate mocked.
"Hey hey, that’s a personal attack," Long Yi protested.
"Personal attack? Hahaha! You’re really something. You’re about to die, and you still care about that?" the pirate said, boosting his Fighting Aura again, wrapping his entire arm in it, turning it like a giant drill towards Long Yi.
"But the thing is, I didn’t agree to die," Long Yi said with a smile.
The tip of the drill landed in Long Yi’s hand, and the fierce Fighting Aura enveloped his palm, letting the drill spin at high speed in the center of his palm, but Long Yi’s smile remained unchanged.
The pirate suddenly increased his Fighting Aura, and the speed of the drill further accelerated, but Long Yi also boosted his Fighting Aura accordingly. The collision of the Fighting Auras caused high temperatures and brightness, yet Long Yi’s smile did not change. The pirate’s expression, however, gradually became cautious. Others might not notice, but he could feel an incredible pressure emanating from Long Yi. He had initially thought Long Yi was just an ordinary fool, but now it was clear that it was all a façade!
Boom!
Finally, the pirate couldn’t take it anymore, he was forced to abruptly cut off his Fighting Aura, and the unsupported drill exploded spectacularly. The pirate flipped several somersaults in the air and took a dozen steps back upon landing before he managed to stop.
This time, the smiles on the faces of those brothers behind him faded. They had realized Long Yi’s strength was absolutely not as weak as he had initially seemed.
"Kid, who exactly are you?" the man asked in a low voice.
"Nobody special, relax, we’re just playing around," Long Yi chuckled at the pirates waving them over, signaling they could all come at him together.
Being outnumbered was what pirates did best. Seeing Long Yi’s gesture, they didn’t need any coaxing; seven people immediately rushed forward, their Fighting Auras thundering, and various weapons drawn, all striking towards Long Yi from different directions.
"Hey hey, let’s not be so violent. We can talk this out," Long Yi still chuckled, quickly jumping out of the encirclement and simultaneously drawing a fearsome greatsword full of jagged teeth. However, back in the Human Realm, he had equipped the armored units with numerous weapons stored in his private space. The moment this massive greatsword appeared, the surrounding pirates couldn’t help but inhale sharply. After all, who would have thought a seemingly jovial person would wield such a terrifying weapon?
As Fighting Aura infused the blade, a terrifying roar vibrated between the saw teeth, turning into a second row of saw teeth sliding at high speed within the first. No one doubted that the slightest lack of attention would get them sliced by the teeth!
"Come on, kids, use all your strength, or you will die," Long Yi declared seriously after wiping the smile off his face. Naturally, he meant to provoke the pirates into attacking with full force so he could accurately assess their abilities.
To the pirates, these words were nothing short of an insult. Thus, each of them erupted with fury.
Greatswords clashed with various weapons, creating incessant booming sounds; the ground’s soil was flung into the air, and stones shattered. Those who were originally working stopped and watched this inexplicable battle from a distance. The battle seemed baffling, and so did the man who instigated it. Regardless, since it was a fight against pirates, everyone hoped Long Yi would win.
But could he really win? After all, there were several pirate warships hovering in the sky!
At that moment, a boom accompanied by a scream rang out as a man’s staff was severed by Long Yi’s greatsword, and his abdomen was gashed wide open!
"Bastard!" cursed Mahal, the pirate squad leader, under his breath. This was the last thing he wanted to see. Their leader was currently negotiating prices on another planet, leaving him in charge here. If he messed this up, it wouldn’t just be a scolding; his life could be directly at risk!
"You guys, go get the heavy weapons!" Mahal ordered several people beside him. They immediately cast magic and teleported back to the spaceship above.
Mahal eyed Long Yi, his gaze flickering. He did not recognize Long Yi and had no idea where such a character had emerged from. Despite facing many opponents, Long Yi seemed to fight with ease. So, without any illusions, he ordered them to use heavy weapons.
Another scream echoed; this time it was the pirate who had previously lost money and was in a bad mood. He wielded a curved sword, but now only the hilt was left, along with his other arm having vanished.
"Feeling better now?" Long Yi asked, seemingly concerned but the sarcasm was unmistakable.
"Bastard, you’re dead!" the armless pirate roared.
"Really? And with what will you kill me?" Long Yi, with his greatsword resting on his shoulder, serrated edge up, asked leisurely.
Humm—
A massive resonance of energy emerged as a three-meter-tall metal structure slowly descended from the sky!
Battle Armor?
Long Yi instantly recognized the object. It was definitely not a counterfeit item from Taobao because it still bore the emblem of the White Dragon Empire. Yet, this battle armor was covered with marks that were crudely repaired.
How could this be here?
Long Yi was completely puzzled.
Although Long Yi did not understand why the Battle Armor was here, it did not hinder his understanding of it. The Battle Armor, unlike the Divine Armor he crafted in the Lower Plane—powered by mana that could activate magic spells with minimal magic—it operated on Fighting Aura. The stronger the Fighting Aura, the more powerful the Battle Armor could become. Indeed, it was the perfect equipment.
After all, this was a piece of equipment made by Giants for Humans; its adaptability was undeniable, and Long Yi had only slightly optimized it himself.
Well, Long Yi had never thought that one day he would be confronted by his own creation. However, by rights, there should be a device inside it to prevent others from using it, so why didn’t it work?
While Long Yi was still puzzled, the Battle Armor suddenly accelerated from the sky with a thunderous crash.
Watching the armor’s shaky movements in mid-air, Long Yi knew the person controlling it definitely hadn’t systematically learned how to operate it because it didn’t even deploy its stabilizing wings.
Well, Long Yi put away his criticism as he saw the armor charging towards him; he instead charged forward and then suddenly sped to one side. The instinctual reaction of the soldier controlling the Battle Armor was to follow, but the armor’s maneuverability in the air was extremely poor. It just watched helplessly as Long Yi surged past, almost unable to do anything.
Jokingly, this thing was created by me, if I didn’t know its weaknesses, wouldn’t that be embarrassing?
Squad leader Mahal initially thought that once the heavy weaponry was deployed, victory was assured. Yet, to his astonishment, Long Yi evaded it so easily! It was utterly inconceivable!
"Everyone, prepare for battle; the warship will descend immediately to provide fire support," Mahal commanded.
As soon as the squad leader spoke, everyone basically understood that they had truly met their match.
