Chapter 1354 - 1099: Octopus Ika

By this time, Long Yi had switched the Divine Edict into pure manual mode, meaning that it would ask Long Yi before making any decisions.

Afterward, the Divine Edict presented several options, including the outright eradication of the current Divine Worm; banishing the current Divine Worm into the void; preserving the Divine Worm in an individual Eternal form and freezing it completely; or directly altering the Divine Worm’s memory.

Long Yi didn’t bother with the next options, altering the Divine Worm’s memory was exactly what he wanted.

Long Yi chose to alter the Divine Worm’s memory, naturally, the content of the alteration was also specified by Long Yi.

Thus, the Divine Worm erased the memories deeply engraved within itself and modified them as follows: To devour its kind and serve Long Yi. It now served the one true god, Long Yi, in secret, and everything it had done before was just to deceive its foolish kin. Of course, altering memory is a complex affair; Long Yi also concocted a series of memory contents to embed in its surface memory to make the altered memories seem more realistic and polished.

After all this was done, the Divine Worm was relocated back inside the octopus head. Likewise, the part of its memory about escaping the octopus head was removed—after all, it was in cahoots with Long Yi and shouldn’t have tried to escape.

Then, Long Yi released the control of the Divine Edict and also let the snake loosen its constraints.

After that, Long Yi spoke, "I think there is no surveillance around us anymore, we don’t have to keep acting."

At this moment, the octopus head paused, then a look of relief surfaced in its eyes, "This is simply unbelievable! I’ve finally waited for your arrival, great master! I have many secrets that I can’t wait to share with you!" the Divine Worm said excitedly.

These secrets included where the other Divine Worms were hiding; how they were currently uniting all the technology they had mastered to deal with Long Yi; and how it was being ostracized due to its weak strength among other things. Basically, it repeated everything Long Yi wanted to know.

Originally, Long Yi had planned to rush off and exterminate those worms as soon as he got the information. But now, he had changed his mind, for the main problem with suddenly appearing before those Divine Worms was that they were unlikely to confront him directly. And if they ran, there was a chance that his hard-won mole would be exposed.

"So master, what is our next plan?" the octopus head in front of him asked eagerly.

"Our plan is to have you continue to help me as a mole. But before that, I think I can make you stronger," Long Yi said.

Among the various options the Divine Edict offered for the Divine Worm, one option called ’Completion’ surprised Long Yi.

The function, as the name implied, was that the Divine Edict would fill in the missing pieces of the fractured Divine Worm. Once complete, the Divine Worm would possess a full divine consciousness.

But Long Yi would not do so, as it would be too abrupt; however, slightly reinforcing it was viable.

"You can say that when you encountered me, I was in a mysterious state where I could not initiate an attack with the God Eater on you, and you took the opportunity to obtain fragments of the Divine Worm from my hands. However, I believe with your intelligence, you’ll surely come up with a more perfect excuse," Long Yi thoughtfully provided the rationale.

"Yes, rest assured, master Long Yi. I will definitely not let them find any flaws at all!" the Divine Worm said excitedly.

The process of the Divine Edict completing the Divine Worm was straightforward. It was merely an issue of giving a command, but the Divine Worm could truly feel itself becoming stronger by the moment! In the blink of an eye, it was hundreds of times more powerful than before! This was equivalent to having devoured the fragments of hundreds of Divine Worms!

"Oh! This power! It’s unbelievable! Great master, I praise your greatness! I will repay you with my endless loyalty!" the Divine Worm was ecstatic with extreme joy.

Afterward, Long Yi let it leave, as lingering too long would also be inappropriate. At any rate, he had finally thrown a stone into the stagnant waters of the middle Plane, and the size of the ripples it would create depended on the octopus head’s performance.

The Tusk Warship tore through space, returning to the secret hideout of the Divine Worm. In the distance, the golden warships and the black planet occupied vast spaces in the view. However, Ika, the octopus-headed captain, revealed a cold smile—right now, those poor Divine Worms had no idea they were contending against such a great being.

The transparent dome meeting room above the golden warship was the place where these Divine Worms usually gathered. At present, it hosted nearly all the Divine Worms in the Plane that were doing fairly well. The number was already in the hundreds and was increasing every day. These Divine Worms, fearing Long Yi and his God Eaters, had come here by instinct of their species, seeking refuge.

When Ika arrived here, he saw that his original spot was taken by a bulky figure, looking like a giant lobster and much larger than Ika.

"Eh? Isn’t this Ika? So you’re one of my kind too? Hahaha! I knew there must be a reason why your Eight-clawed Nation’s strength grew so quickly in such a short time, hahaha!" the lobster-like creature laughed heartily, making no move to get up, even though Ika’s name was clearly marked on that spot.

"Move aside, you idiot with your bones on the outside. I can’t be bothered with you," Ika said impatiently, waving his hand as if shooing away a fly.

"What now, didn’t get enough of battling on our planet, so you want to continue here?" The Lobster General laughed unabashedly, drawing the attention of everyone around him, including Turun and Simu.

"If it wasn’t for the prohibition on infighting here, I’d have erased you by now," Ika said coldly.

"Come on, I’ll allow you to duel in private, try erasing me right now and I assure you, I won’t pursue any responsibility!" The Lobster General laughed even more wildly.

The Lobster General and Ika both hailed from a liquid planet, serving different nations, locked in a war that had lasted for hundreds of years. However, neither of them had realized that the other was also a Divine Worm.

When the Lobster General arrived here and saw Ika’s name and made some inquiries, he immediately understood that his challenging old adversary was also of his kind. But he had also learned from those around him that his kind was not particular strong here. "Here," referred to the strength as a Divine Worm, as Ika had hardly absorbed any of his kind because he was constantly embroiled in war. The Lobster General, on the other hand, had first absorbed dozens of his kind before parasitizing the consciousness of the Lobster General. Therefore, he had the confidence to provoke Ika.

"You won’t pursue any responsibility?" Ika asked with a cold laugh.

"Of course! That’s what I said, and everyone here heard it," the Lobster General replied.

But no sooner had he finished speaking, than Ika’s two big eyes emitted red rays, hitting the Lobster General’s eyes directly. The Lobster General, not to be outdone, also released energy to counter. This type of contest was the most direct form of confrontation between Divine Worms. Once it started, it meant the battle would only end with one side being devoured.

The Lobster General clearly hadn’t expected Ika to so confidently choose such a method of confrontation. According to his understanding of Ika, he saw no reason to worry and could already foresee the outcome of completely devouring Ika. However, things didn’t progress as he had imagined. During the clash of energies, the Lobster General found himself gradually losing ground!

How could this be!

"Wait a minute! Please wait!" The Lobster General panicked, as the power Ika demonstrated in this direct confrontation was definitely not something mere fragments of Divine Worm could possess—it must have been at least a hundredfold stronger!

"Unfortunately, I have absolutely no interest in whatever you’re trying to say," Ika said.

Boom!

The red light flickered. The Divine Worm hiding within the Lobster General’s consciousness was forcibly extracted, struggled in the air for a moment, and then was completely devoured.

Ika then walked over, threw the now thoroughly dead Lobster General to the side, and took a seat in his own place.

All of the Divine Worms were shocked, as this was completely beyond everyone’s expectations. The current seating order was essentially by strength, with the strong in the front and the weak at the back. Ika’s seat was already quite far back, but the strength he now demonstrated definitely warranted him a spot at the front!

What on earth was going on?

"Ahem, so, Mr. Ika, it seems like you’ve gained quite a bit this time," Turun of the Balance Church spoke up.

"Yes, I encountered Long Yi, quite lucky, I’d say," Ika responded.

Encountered Long Yi?! And that’s considered lucky?!

Who would believe that!

Which of the Divine Worms present didn’t know that Long Yi was their nemesis? Although every Divine Worm coveted Long Yi’s Trinity true divine status, the God Eater was definitely not something to be trifled with! And now Ika was saying running into Long Yi was lucky?

"Then, would you be willing to share a bit of your luck with us?" Simu, the master of the black planet, asked as well.

"Of course, there’s nothing to it. I received a message that there was a special energy burst, so I went to check it out. It turned out to be an experiment Long Yi was conducting. Though I didn’t know what he was doing, I found him controlling thousands of Divine Worms. Strangely enough, he didn’t use the God Eater but was attempting to devour these Divine Worms through a special kind of magic. Of course, our kin wouldn’t just let him devour them willingly, so these Divine Worms grouped together, causing Long Yi’s thoughts to get somewhat muddled. I took the opportunity to slip in, devoured a portion of the Divine Worms focused on contending with Long Yi, and then escaped before Long Yi regained his composure."

Ika had already modified the memories of his crew to ensure there were no loopholes, so now he could make up whatever story he wanted. However, his tale seemed to give the surrounding Divine Worms a hint of a chance they might exploit. (To be continued.
