Chapter 1512 - 174: The Cost of Knowledge_2
"Don’t worry, this son of a bitch is just putting on a show. We’ve verified the content he provided us countless times, and it simply doesn’t work. I’m curious to see how he’ll talk his way out of this," the lead scientist stated, visibly tense but aware that showing weakness now could lead to division within the group.
The Future Soldier research group was then gathered with countless top authorities who would assist in adjudicating the entire process.
"Then, let us begin," said the Emperor.
Long Yi nodded and walked over to face the group of scientists.
"Come on, tell me what’s fake, and I’ll be responsible for slapping your faces."
The statement was rather harsh, but since it was from the opposing side, who cared about harshness?
One scientist immediately pulled out a rather tattered piece of paper, densely covered in scribbled content.
"Come, explain the content here!" the scientist said arrogantly.
Clang!
The Alloy Greatsword was suddenly thrust into the ground, startling the scientist opposite.
"What are you trying to do?" the scientist screamed.
"Nonsense, of course I’m going to chop you down later!"
Long Yi retorted, snatched the paper, and held it up high.
"Ladies and gentlemen! I will start analyzing the content now, and you’d better listen clearly, because I’m only going to say it once!"
Long Yi immediately began explaining. The content on the paper was meticulously organized, but because it was mixed together, one could easily become confused with slightly unclear thinking. That was exactly Long Yi’s intention; he did not want the opposition to easily understand. He hadn’t anticipated that these scientists would be so foolish to become completely baffled by it!
As the outer layers of knowledge were peeled away, almost all the scientists present realized that this thing was indeed genuine, as Long Yi conducted demonstrations with the equipment beside him while he explained!
"So, this is what it is, any last words?" Long Yi said, tossing the paper aside and pulling the greatsword from the ground with one hand.
"You! You’re spouting nonsense! Why couldn’t I research it myself!" the scientist shouted as he retreated.
"Your failure to research it is your stupidity. As for whether what I’m saying is true, you know, I know, and everyone present knows. So, I repeat, any last words?"
"No! You can’t kill me! I’m a top scientist! The Emperor needs me! Emperor—ah!"
A soft sound, the greatsword pierced through his chest.
"Nice last words, you can have them engraved on your tombstone."
Buzz!
The greatsword’s surface glowed.
Bang!
An explosion sound came from inside the armor, followed by blood seeping through the armor’s seams.
"Being this stupid, providing medical aid is just a waste of resources."
Clang!
The blood-stained greatsword was thrust into the ground again.
"Next!"
Long Yi gestured to the group of scientists.
All the scientists’ legs went weak.
Whether it was those facing Long Yi or those watching around, none had anticipated that this man named Henki would kill without any hesitation, utterly indifferent even in front of the Emperor!
As everyone was visibly shocked, Long Yi spoke, "I’ve said it before, getting rid of me is easy, but wanting me back won’t be. My knowledge is not so easily accessible. You thought you could steal my research results? Fine, no problem. But you are so foolish that you couldn’t figure it out and now want me to teach you? Then your tuition fee is your life!"
This statement shocked the scientists, who, in their world, had always stood at the top. No one had ever dared speak to them in such a tone, but now, Henki had done so and had just killed a scientist!
Everyone’s first instinct was not to look at Henki or the panicked scientists opposing him, but at the Emperor.
The Emperor’s opinion was critical; probably only he could change the situation.
But the Emperor merely said indifferently,
"Continue."
The Emperor, more precisely, the Worm, was more concerned about who could mass-produce this new type of alloy the fastest. As for who that person was, he did not care at all. In scientific research, results make the hero. If you have produced excellent results, you are an excellent scientist, and if you have not, no matter how much effort and hardship you’ve put in, the Emperor would not care.
Seeing the Emperor abandon them, all the scientists present were dumbfounded, and those standing opposite Long Yi felt a chill in their hearts. Clearly, in the eyes of the Emperor, they were now worthless.
"Hey, don’t be so down, you all seemed pretty confident before, right? Come on, if any of you can prove that I was faking, just step forward. After all, it’s just me against all of you; if you lay out your evidence, I’m as good as dead, right?"
Long Yi pressed on.
"I’ll do it!" a person stood up; he wasn’t one of the older scientists but an assistant, firmly believing his leader and mentor was right, so he stepped forward.
