Chapter 156 - 33, Secret of the Black Dragon Tyl _3
Seeing the disbelief on Long Yi’s face, Tyl couldn’t help but chuckle bitterly.
"Look at me, I’m basically a dragon. Would I lie about something like this?"
Long Yi gave it some thought and it seemed to make sense. If Tyl was fabricating such a story, it would do neither of them any good.
"Child, think about it. The Dragon Clan possesses immense power and a strong body to match, but fails to utilize that power. And humans? Apart from the skill to wield such power, they have nothing else. Their frail bodies would perish even by the breath of a Giant Dragon once separated from the Dragon Clan. I absolutely don’t believe that the Dragon Clan and humans have a natural synergy. Because if the Dragon Clan is apart from humanity, they are still powerful, whereas without the Dragon Clan, humans are the weakest creatures in the world not even bearing the claws and fangs of wild beasts."
Tyl, looking at the group of humans in the garden, spoke slowly. Long Yi processed his words.
Admittedly, Tyl had a point. Given the power of the Dragon Clan, they could easily top the world’s food chain without the need for humans. Now, however, the Dragon Clan willingly submitted to be human mounts, obtaining even more unneeded power in return.
"Does this have something to do with the higher Plane?" Long Yi asked.
"Although I haven’t figured out the exact reason, it must be related," Tyl answered.
"I don’t understand. You’re a dragon, why are you telling me all this? Aren’t you worried I’ll spread this around?" Long Yi found it increasingly incomprehensible.
"Because I believe, the answer you’re looking for is also in the higher Plane. Our objectives align," Tyl replied.
"So, if you really find out that the Dragon Clan and humans were natural enemies, what would you do? Lead the Dragon Clan into war with humanity?" Long Yi countered, finding himself somewhat amusing, a Giant thinking he was a human deep down.
"No, I’m just searching for the truth," Tyl said.
"The truth about humans and the Dragon Clan?"
"No, the truth about Tyl’s death."
Long Yi was aware that "Tyl", was the name of the old Black Dragon’s former Dragon Knight. After Tyl’s death, the old Black Dragon retained this name. Generally, all nations presumed Tyl had died in battle, but obviously the old Black Dragon had his own views.
An attendant passed by. Long Yi returned his plate, losing interest in the food after the whirlwind conversation. He scratched his head, wanting to say something but words failed him.
In the end, he clapped a heavy hand on Tyl’s shoulder and said earnestly, "Uncle, you can do it!" before making a quick escape!
While Long Yi was curious, he was not fiercely so. He knew that trying to meddle with information that even the two-thousand-year-old Black Dragon couldn’t understand was like courting death.
As for Long Yi’s personal concerns, he had a simple way of dealing with them.
That was to do nothing at all.
If this mattered in the higher Plane, then he would figure it out when he reached there. Worrying here was fruitless and not worth the effort.
Tyl watched as Long Yi walked away, a bitter smile lingering at the corner of his mouth. He muttered, "Even after I swore such a solemn oath, he doesn’t seem to care."
Actually, the banquet hadn’t started yet and everyone was casually chatting. Ai Lin kept being dragged around for small talk by various acquaintances, while Long Yi piled up his plate with all kinds of food.
Finally, the Emperor appeared. By his side were three Generals, five Dragon Rider Group Leaders, and four Guardian Dragon Knights.
They were the cornerstone of the nation, the three Generals leading the Empire’s three legions, a total of about two hundred and seventy thousand men. The five Dragon Rider Group Leaders led three thousand Dragon Riders, constituting all the fighting force the White Dragon Empire had.
Their appearance drew the attention of everyone present, giving Ai Lin a breather. Without losing the opportunity, she swiftly left the crowd and came to Long Yi’s side, her big eyes focusing on him and her hands clutching his arm like a pitiful abandoned bunny.
Left with no choice, Long Yi surrendered, stuffing a piece of dessert into Ai Lin’s mouth, her mood instantly lifted.
Long Yi spotted Elsa from a distance. He waved at her and Elsa replied by focusing her gaze on the tallest figure in the crowd. Of course, Elsa noticed Ai Lin as well. Ai Lin’s evening gown had been meticulously chosen for the occasion, but Elsa was not unprepared either. Dressing in an elegant white gown with light blue floral patterns and a pair of white high heels, she looked like a graceful lily.
Ai Lin, eyes fixed on Elsa, clung tightly to Long Yi’s arm. On the other hand, Elsa traced an almost absent smile on her lips and subtly pushed out her chest. Staring at Elsa’s chest, Ai Lin was surprised, "Is this an illusion? Did it get bigger?"
Long Yi’s attention was on Elsa and he failed to notice this exchange between the girls. He only felt that Elsa looked dazzlingly beautiful tonight; she was so radiant that she seemed to glow.
Naturally, the towering figure of Long Yi waving from the crowd didn’t escape the Emperor’s notice. In fact, everyone who accompanied the Emperor observed Long Yi; it would be hard not to notice someone of his height. However, not many reacted to Elsa’s presence.
This included the Crown Prince. (To be continued. If you like this novel, don’t forget to make a recommendation or donate on qidian.com. Your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users, please visit m.qidian.com to read.)
