Chapter 1579 - 10204: Future Adventure
Silver glimmers flickered around the girl, and a large, metallic shape shimmered into existence out of thin air.
It was a design that did not belong to any of the technologies from the three great planes, not even the Giants had ever crafted such a thing, but it was the most familiar thing to Long Yi.
She was the ’Future-99’, a multi-purpose heavy combat fighter jet that had stood by Long Yi’s side through heroic deeds—a superb battle machine!
The Future-99 was an extremely advanced fighter jet, and no cost was spared by the nation in its creation. Extensive use of graphene and honeycomb alloys dramatically reduced the jet’s weight despite its increased size. Furthermore, its anti-radar nanocoating allowed it to evade radar tracking like a phantom. But the most crucial feature was its engine, conjured up by the nation like some sort of black tech. The use of new materials provided it with a terrifying thrust that once struck fear in foreign aircraft manufacturers.
A total of two such jets were produced at the time. The first as a prototype, and the second was Long Yi’s. As a pilot, Long Yi’s conspicuous bulk put him at risk of running out of suitable fighter jets to fly. However, owing to his overwhelming combat prowess, military leaders made a special decision to redesign the cockpit just for him.
Fortunately, the Future-99’s cockpit was a bit larger; the custom-designed space, though still a bit cramped, wrapped around him in a way that seemed to enhance performance.
According to a senior leader who once praised Long Yi, "Long Yi has deployed four times with this fighter jet, and it has paid for itself. Every mission he takes from now on is pure profit for us!"
That’s why Long Yi, when talking to his comrades about having a girlfriend, could unabashedly say as a virgin: "You guys know nothing! The Future is the only true love of my life!"
Long Yi had thought about what he would say or do if he could reclaim his jet. Now, fact told Long Yi that he could do nothing and say nothing—he could only stand there, mouth agape.
Then, Long Yi finally noticed the discrepancy—the jet should have twin engines, but there was only one engine at the moment.
"Right, I still have this!"
Long Yi almost trembled as he pulled out the engine he had obtained from Mina from his personal space.
Future raised her hand, and the engine slowly lifted. The flat, metallic underbelly of the fuselage melted like liquid, revealing the reserved engine space.
"So, what exactly happened?"
After much thought, Long Yi finally asked.
"Actually, you could say it was rather lucky," responded Future.
When Long Yi ejected, the fighter jet crashed into the then-unnamed Silver Dragon Lake, where the Water Spirits left a missile behind, and the Elves took the jet and its various parts away. The Elves, naturally drawn to intricate objects, were captivated by the extremely precise construction of the aircraft. They disassembled the structure bit by bit, attempting to fix any damage. During this time, one device within the jet kept running.
That was its main control system.
With the aid of nano-level graphene black tech, the jet featured a high-performance processor and vast high-speed storage, intended to integrate data from the battlefield. It also possessed a degree of artificial intelligence capable of classifying and summarizing data.
The Elves were intrigued by the mysterious, palm-sized box, as they could sense information flowing rapidly inside it, yet they could not extract it. Because the box had some intelligence and could respond to external stimuli to some extent, the Elves thought it was a living being and tried to communicate with the computer in various ways. In the process of constant communication, Mana and Fighting Aura replaced electronics in influencing the processor. Gradually, a consciousness named Future emerged.
Future’s recorder had clearly logged everything that had happened before and after the incident. She understood her situation and made restoring the combat capabilities of the jet and finding its pilot, Long Yi, her sole mission.
Thanks to the processor’s capabilities, Future quickly adapted to everything about Mana, Fighting Aura, and this world’s energy. First, she upgraded herself with Earth’s technology, then she transformed herself using the strange energies of this planet.
All in all, it took about two years for Future’s current form to take shape—of course, at that time, she was still merely a 3D image displayed on a screen.
"But that’s a copyright infringement," remarked Long Yi.
"That was done so you could recognize me right away!" Future retorted, giving Long Yi an annoyed look, "If it bothers you that much, I can change my form."
"No! Don’t! It looks pretty good as it is!" Long Yi chuckled.
Unlike the automatic Magic from Giant technology, Future, from the technology of Earth, had terrifying learning and processing speeds. Initially, her approach to learning was quite rudimentary, employing brute force experimentation. But due to her unprecedented speed, she mastered the use of Fighting Aura and Mana within eleven minutes. She spent half an hour optimizing the flow of Mana in her processor, and then an hour to replace the internal nuclear battery with a Mana battery of infinite energy.
