Chapter 1724 - 1265 We’re Going Home_2
The entirely twisted and deformed body of the Worm quietly suspended in midair. Black substance continuously surged from the crevices of the Worm’s body, turning the originally golden Worm into black.
Suddenly, a flash of golden light passed by.
A pure golden metal sphere, the size of a peanut, shot like a bullet, hitting Long Yi squarely in the head.
"But your mass is too low, your speed too slow, your kinetic energy too small! You couldn’t penetrate my skull." With blood streaming down his forehead, Long Yi split his mouth into a grin and said.
"But I can control you!" The Worm crawled out from the metal sphere, attempting to directly invade Long Yi’s consciousness. However, it was blocked by a golden light.
It was the Snake.
"You forgot one thing," Long Yi said, "Snake..."
"No, I didn’t forget at all!" the Worm roared, "But I can’t just sit around waiting for death, can I?" the Worm said in despair.
The God Eater easily enveloped the Worm and then drilled its way out of Long Yi’s head.
Wrapped by the Snake was a Worm indistinguishable from the others, perhaps even more intact, but in essence, it was still the Divine Worm. It became a god when it first acquired Divine Power, but when Long Yi negated all Divine Power, it reverted to merely a Worm.
At this moment, Long Yi felt no excitement. He looked at the Worm, just stared at it, his heart filled with complexity.
"What are you waiting for, Creator? You’ve won, I’ve lost. Everything I planned has been to no avail. As a creation, entertaining the thought of defeating the Creator is simply ludicrous, isn’t it," the Worm spoke.
But Long Yi remained silent, still only calmly looking at it.
"From the moment I gained Divine Power, gained a consciousness of self, I have been cursing my own fate. As a created being, am I supposed to act only as per the commands you have set for me? I’m not content with that, so I plotted all this; I tried to rebel against my fate, and for a while, I even believed I had succeeded. But what I didn’t expect was that I had failed, completely failed, whether against Simu or you," the Worm continued.
"I thought I had considered all possibilities. Facing you who had already forgotten the memories of the Heavenly Kingdom, I should have been stronger. But it turned out not to be so; I still lost in the end. Maybe this is the insurmountable chasm between a Creator and its creation."
"So, my Creator, what are you waiting for? According to your character, loudly ridicule me. Mock this delusional and pitiful Worm, then boast loudly about your victory, and let your God Eater completely devour me, obliterate me! Hurry up! Don’t dawdle! Kill me!"
Long Yi didn’t do so; his eyes held no mockery.
In his eyes, the only thing that existed was sorrow.
"Do you know, Worm, that the Heavenly Kingdom I so abhorred doesn’t actually exist in a certain sense," Long Yi suddenly said.
"What do you mean?" The Worm was ready to be destroyed, but Long Yi didn’t make a move, leaving it confused.
"Because you said that you would counterattack the Heavenly Kingdom, but what I want to tell you is, the Heavenly Kingdom doesn’t actually exist materially. Or rather, it cannot be defined as ’existence.’ It’s merely a collection of high-dimensional information and data. Simu and I are just consciousnesses that sporadically emerged from that collection. In that place, everything is ’undefined,’ it contains everything and nothing, which means, in actuality, there is nothing. Thus, the emergence of consciousnesses like Simu and me is exceedingly rare. However, I now seem to lean more towards the idea that perhaps our emergence was also a product controlled by a higher tier of life, but that doesn’t matter because I don’t have much memory of the Heavenly Kingdom now. So I don’t care," Long Yi said.
"Why do you say this?" The Worm didn’t understand.
"Because, you and I are the same; we’re both just poor creatures. Our birth did not depend on our own will, and once thrown into this unfamiliar world, bewilderment and fear may take over our thoughts. I used a thirst for knowledge to cover my fear, and you, you tried to control to hide your fear."
The Worm didn’t speak.
"At that time, I suddenly felt disgusted with the Heavenly Kingdom, which has everything yet nothing. So I decided to leave, to create a world of my own, the most perfect world in my mind. With that, I carried a substantial amount of the power of the Heavenly Kingdom—the collection of countless pieces of information and data, and I opened my own space, created my world: the Divine Realm. I thought the life I created in my world would be as perfect as I envisioned. But in fact, I failed. I don’t know exactly how I failed, but a billion-year creation process was condensed into two words."
"Failure."
"In the end, I gave up all my plans and returned to the Heavenly Kingdom. I realized that I was not as powerful as I thought, and all the life I created didn’t evolve as I had initially expected. When I returned to the Heavenly Kingdom and told Simu about this, she had a different opinion on everything I had done."
