Chapter 213 - 156: Almost Lost Life
But at this moment, Ai Lin didn’t hear what Long Yi was saying at all, because her mind had become so tense that it was unresponsive.
At this time, Long Yi instinctively hugged Ai Lin’s waist, his body leaning against hers from behind. Luckily, Long Yi was sitting at the back, so for the incredibly strong Ai Lin, his weight was nothing significant. However, the constant masculine essence coming from his shoulder and ear was making Ai Lin blush deeply.
"Brother Long? Brother Long?" Ai Lin called softly twice. Long Yi merely grunted a response before becoming silent again. His grunt wasn’t a response to Ai Lin, but rather an instinctual reaction to Thunder Eagle’s movements.
With one hand holding the reins, Ai Lin gently lifted her other hand, like a thief carefully stealing something, and gently stroked Long Yi’s face.
"It’s so soft, not at all hard and stiff." Ai Lin thought to herself. She had always thought that Long Yi’s body was hard like iron. Then, Ai Lin pinched Long Yi’s face again.
Ah! What am I doing? Ai Lin hurriedly put her hand back down. After a while, she quietly grasped Long Yi’s hand, encouraging him to hold her even tighter.
Imperial Palace.
"What about the assassins? Any developments?" The Emperor asked the kneeling figure before him. He was dressed entirely in black, his head bowed, a matching black mask completely covering his face.
"Your Majesty, these individuals entered Academy City three days ago, all of them possessing legitimate identities." The man replied. His voice was soft, but his words were pronounced clearly.
"In other words, someone let them in," The Emperor commented.
"It’s very likely, your majesty. My subordinates are investigating; our early leads have led us to these people." The man in black said, handing the Emperor a piece of paper. The characters on the paper were hastily scrawled out in blood, obviously written in panic.
"These people?" The Emperor paused, his eyebrows furrowing slightly as he retrieved a small notebook from under his desk and began comparing the names. Then, a look of realization crossed his face.
"Order your men to retreat. I understand the situation now. Terminate the investigation; we don’t want to startle the snake in the grass," ordered the Emperor.
"Yes, Your Majesty."
With that, the man in black was gone.
In a haze, Long Yi dreamt of his parents, first his parents from Earth, then his Giant parents, and finally the blacksmith couple. The people in his dreams were different, but the content was the same, all dreams of him as a baby, being tossed and turned in the arms of all his parents, also being swaddled in a diaper. The clumsy Giant parents even managed to wrap the diaper all over Long Yi’s body.
Then, Long Yi woke up.
When he woke, he found himself suspended in a completely white room, wanting to move, but his body was firmly restrained, completely unresponsive.
Looking down, Long Yi discovered that his clothes were gone, his body completely wrapped in rune-covered bandages, only his right hand exposed. On closer examination, he found his right hand had completely transformed into a dark gold color, glowing with a metallic sheen, covered with unidentifiable patterns. Electric arcs were moving up and down his arm.
"Are you awake?" A slightly exhausted voice asked.
"Magic Instructor?" Long Yi recognized the voice.
"Oh, it seems that you really are awake." The Magic Instructor’s voice sounded slightly more energized.
"What happened?" Long Yi tried to struggle again.
"Hey, hey, don’t move around. It took me great effort to get your body under control." The Magic Instructor hurriedly said.
"Controlled? Why?" Long Yi asked in confusion.
"Because you just destroyed one of my laboratories, severely injured three soldiers who were helping restrain you, while crazily shouting: ’You are all in danger! Mortals!’"
Am I a second-year syndrome patient? Long Yi asked himself.
"Alright, we’ll get into the details later. For now, see if there’s anything wrong with you." The Magic Instructor’s voice echoed again.
"Let’s see, mental state, not bad ... strength, considerable recovery ... Fighting Aura... What the heck!! Where is my Fighting Aura?!"
Upon this realization, Long Yi panicked. He found that his own Giant’s strength and Dragon Power had completely disappeared! Naturally, the corresponding Fighting Aura was gone too!
"Well, that’s correct. Don’t worry, first feel your right arm." The Magic Instructor said.
Right arm?
Long Yi tried to feel, he immediately realized that all his strength, the power of his 52 layers of Fighting Aura, was concentrated on his right arm. But if he didn’t deliberately feel it, he wouldn’t detect it at all.
"What’s going on?" Long Yi tried to communicate with his strength, but it refused to respond at all!
"Ah, young man, why don’t you understand that you can’t die if you don’t push yourself too hard! The strength in your hands belongs to the Power of Rules. You must know that rules are something from the higher Plane. To master such power generally requires at least ten Dragon Marks, but you forcefully stole a part of the Rule with only two Dragon Marks. It’s extremely lucky that you didn’t die instantly. If an ordinary person had a Rule inside their body, they’d probably have turned into a pile of ashes a long time ago." The Magic Instructor said.
"So, what do I do now?" Long Yi asked, looking at his arm in concern.
"Now, there may not be an ideal solution. The use of Rules is a formidable challenge for all empires in the Human Realm. Although I have researched it, I’ve made no progress. The only solution I can offer you is to quickly improve your own strength and find a way to adapt to it." The Magic Instructor said.
