Chapter 765 - 601

A Red Demon Scorpion no larger than a palm sat atop a table, feasting on meat. Ever since it had shrunk in size, its appetite had decreased proportionally. This unexpected change actually thrilled the Red Demon Scorpion, as it could now perpetually enjoy the pleasure of a full stomach.

Footsteps echoed outside the room, followed by two light knocks. Then, the voice of Prince St. Antonio came.

"Miss Ai Lin, are you there?" he asked.

Quickly, the Red Demon Scorpion clenched back into Ai Lin’s hair, assuming the role of an ornament. Ai Lin responded, "Please come in, Prince St. Antonio."

The door swung open as Prince St. Antonio, now dressed in simple white clothes, walked in, his guards standing outside the door.

"Respected Miss Ai Lin, how do you find your stay here so far?" Prince St. Antonio asked with deep reverence in his voice.

"It’s tolerable. However, not being able to leave the vicinity is quite inconvenient" Ai Lin replied.

"It’s an unfortunate predicament..." Prince St. Antonio’s face fell apologetically. "Since you severed the arm of the second prince of the Divine Auffa Empire, despite the unfortunate fact that his arm was eventually reattached. However, he is still a prince and has threatened to mobilize his 300,000 Mage Army to find you and imprison you, torturing you until your death. It took much effort on my behalf to hide you here."

Ai Lin laughed.

Interestingly enough, these words seemed to be very authentic. But hearing them from Prince St. Antonio’s mouth now, they sounded rather amusing.

"You don’t need to put yourself at risk for me," Ai Lin said, "I am unafraid of armies. I might as well leave now, as I do not have any fear of a mere 300,000 soldiers."

Ai Lin, having encountered countless large battalions, held no regard for a mere 300,000 soldiers. Especially after seeing the previous contrasts, she understood that in this boundless world, she was amongst the highest peaks. Back then, the Red Demon Scorpion had been her experimental subject, terrifying to the people here. This let Ai Lin immediately understand the difference between her and them.

She was fully aware that Prince St. Antonio was trying to gain her support by recounting the events in such a way. Whether he was pretending or was genuinely naive, his words would surely not cause any annoyance. But who was Ai Lin? She was the one accompanying Long Yi! And who was Long Yi? He wasn’t one to say many pleasant words, and instead was always beating people down!

This obviously stunned Prince St. Antonio, whose ultimate intention was to make Ai Lin appreciate the severity of the situation. Hence, he amplified the military capability of his second brother Saint Julio to 300,000 to intimidate Ai Lin. To his surprise, Ai Lin didn’t consider these soldiers a threat!

"No, it’s not necessary anymore. I have explained the circumstances to my father several times. He is a wise man who clearly understands that my second brother is a fool with no scholarly or military abilities. So, he has ordered him not to pursue this matter and even wishes to meet you in person to offer his apology", he explained.

Prince St. Antonio skillfully bypassed the issue, and brought forward his true intentions. This was his ultimate agenda.

Should she go or should she not?

Ai Lin considered her options carefully.

Of course, she should go!

To find Long Yi, she could not possibly rely on her strength alone. Nothing could be more appropriate than the support of the royal powers.

"Alright. When are we leaving?" Ai Lin asked, nodding her head.

"How about now?"

"Sure!" Ai Lin agreed, eager to finally leave this place.

The place Ai Lin had been staying in was a small Floating Island with limited buildings which was one of Prince St. Antonio’s secret palaces. That day, right after Ai Lin had severed Prince St. Julio’s arm, Prince St. Antonio swiftly moved her to this location. Unfamiliar with her surroundings, Ai Lin didn’t dare to move about freely, but today she could finally have the chance to leave.

They had traveled via magic due to the urgency of the previous escape. But this time, Prince St. Antonio had brought a vehicle — a luxurious airship.

The airship wasn’t large, enveloped in Runes. It looked quite similar to the airship originally from the White Dragon Empire.

Ailin stepped aboard the airship and looked around: the layout seemed about the same.

"How do you find this airship, Miss Ailin? It was built to emulate the Giants’ airship and we have successfully replicated about thirty percent of its specifications! In this plane, it’s only one or two empires whose airship technology can even compare to that of our Divine Auffa Empire!"

Prince St. Antonio said proudly.

Ailin nodded, it did resemble the original quite a bit. However, as someone who has ridden the original Giant airship, she was quick to notice the differences once the airship began to accelerate after takeoff.

"May I see the engine room?"

Ailin asked.

"Of course, you’re free to observe it after the airship has landed, we can’t go there now!"

Prince St. Antonio replied generously.

Yet, Ailin went to a spot towards the rear of the cabin and gently tapped her heel on the floor.

"If it’s modeled after the Giants’ airship... there should be something here."

As she said this, Ailin tapped the floor a few times and a door opened overhead, with a slide descending.

"I see, they’ve even included this maintenance passage."

Ailin giggled, opting not to use the slide and instead jumping right up.

The mages in charge of operating the airship were dumbstruck. They didn’t even know there was a maintenance passage here! The folks responsible for airship assembly and copying did not work in the same location, and those piloting the airship knew even less.

Soon enough, Ailin jumped back down.

"Your magic array up there has been speed limited." Ailin said.

"Yes, because too high a speed causes turbulence, which can affect the comfort onboard." Prince St. Antonio explained.

"I remember the Giant’s airship would automatically activate the air barrier at high speeds for constant stability." Ailin stated.

"Yes! Absolutely! I’m amazed you know! Our engineers couldn’t figure out where to place that magic array; all attempts have failed! Do you know?!" Prince St. Antonio perked up with interest.

"No, I don’t. I was just speaking off the top of my head." Ailin giggled.

Of course, Ailin did know, but there was no gain in her telling him. Why bother with sharing?

Seeing Ailin silent, Prince St. Antonio spoke no more, but he grew more curious about her background.

Ailin was very powerful, really powerful. He knew back in the underground city, he had just acted ignorant. He was aware of every move Ailin made and remembered them all.

Prince St. Antonio was planning on exploring Ailin’s origins once they landed, but her sudden amputation of Prince St. Julio’s arm forced him into making a quick decision. Prince St. Antonio was ambitious and could endure, it was his nature to pretend to be a fool while he waited for a moment to shine. He had dreamed up many scenarios of how he might become a standout, he just didn’t expect it would be this way.

These past several days weren’t easy for Prince St. Antonio either. The emperor of the Divine Auffa Empire, their father, wanted to see who among the brothers would earn the future emperor’s seat through competition. Even if their actions towards one another were extreme, the Emperor would never intervene. Prince St. Antonio’s protection of Ailin meant that all the power he had painstakingly incurred over a stretch of time now had to be revealed.

At this point, all Prince St. Antonio could wish for was that everything he had done would be worth it. Because clear as day, after not finding Cosmic Stone shards his cards were nearly spent. But if Ailin were to side with him, everything would change.

Prince St. Antonio informed the Emperor about Ailin’s miraculous strength; the Emperor became very interested in the girl who could tame a Red Demon Scorpion with a mere command. And today, the prince was to introduce Ailin to the Emperor! (To be continued. If you like this story, feel free to leave your recommendations and your monthly ticket on qidian.com.
