Chapter 957 - 721 Useless Parts

In the fleet of The Divine Auffa Empire, Lou Aran looked at Ai Lin with eyes full of kindness. Initially, he had chosen not to confront Ai Lin, and now he sincerely believed that this decision was indeed the right one. This time he didn’t manage to obtain the most powerful heirlooms, but during the scramble with Long Yi, Ai Lin had gotten her hands on quite a few treasures. In the future, if he could appeal to her emotions and make his case logically...

"Ai Lin," Lou Aran spoke.

"What is it?" Ai Lin asked with a smile.

"Who is your teacher?" Lou Aran kindly inquired.

"Why do you ask about my teacher?" Ai Lin curiously counter-questioned.

"We might know each other," Lou Aran suggested.

"Impossible, you definitely don’t know her," Ai Lin shook her head.

"Shall we see?" Lou Aran really wanted to know who had nurtured such a powerful girl.

"Yavenny, do you know her?" Ai Lin once again brought up Yavenny’s name.

Lou Aran carefully sifted through his memory but resolutely could not find any information related to Yavenny.

"I don’t know her," Lou Aran said, disappointed.

"See, I told you you definitely wouldn’t know her," Ai Lin giggled and turned her head back.

"It’s okay if you don’t know her, just introduce me to her, right?" Lou Aran said.

"That’s really impossible, she has left this plane," Ai Lin said.

"Has she gone to the Middle Plane?" Lou Aran asked, astonished.

"Who knows? Maybe," Ai Lin said—surely, she couldn’t say it was the demon realm?

Lou Aran’s student Gridis had once visited the Middle Plane. According to him, both warriors and mages there were extremely powerful, but the Middle Plane’s battle formation always primarily used warships as weapons. Only after the warships had conquered a planet would the battles between warriors and mages begin.

Many mages dreamt of going to the Middle Plane. Some had succeeded in the past. Some were able to return, while others stayed there. According to the accounts of those who returned, the Middle Plane was no paradise. Even ancient powerhouses, who were top-tier combatants in the Lower Planes, could at best hold a middle ranking there.

That’s why mages of Lou Aran’s caliber had lost interest in the Middle Plane.

Lou Aran shook his head, not wanting to think too much about it. He continued to heal himself with magic. The healing spell he used was a kind of Giant magic, more precisely, a kind of Giant magic he had interpreted on his own through various means. It was more effective than ordinary healing spells, but even so, an injury as severe as losing an arm would take a lot of time to heal.

"This time, you’ve really acquired a great haul," Lou Aran said, a touch of envy in his voice.

Indeed, leaving aside the sparkling Cosmic Stones Ai Lin wore, the heirlooms she had taken from the warehouse were enough to make anyone green with envy.

"The luck wasn’t bad, but I estimate Long Yi got even more heirlooms than I did. After all, he had the help of the very powerful Female Demon Little Zi, while I only had a Red Demon Scorpion of little use." As she spoke, Ai Lin patted the Red Demon Scorpion ornament in her hair.

The Red Demon Scorpion immediately felt full of grievance—wasn’t this all planned by the two of you? What does this have to do with me? Aren’t you unjustly blaming a good Red Demon Scorpion? Of course, this grievance seemed trivial compared to the Cosmic Stones. The Red Demon Scorpion on Ai Lin’s hair swayed its tail, signifying that it was just an ordinary ornament, not understanding what she was saying.

"What exactly did you get? Why not take this opportunity to look at them together?" Lou Aran proposed. The Emperor’s eyes also lit up—yes, he was waiting for this moment!

Lou Aran’s thought process was simple: You’ve gotten these things, but you probably don’t recognize them, right? If there are any really precious items, I’ll deliberately say they’re of no use. Then wouldn’t it be okay for you to gift me a favor?

As if unsuspecting, Ai Lin nodded, and immediately, more than a dozen items flew out of her personal space, obviously not something that could be made in the present day. However, what exactly these items were, none of the onlookers could clearly say at the moment.

Ordinary soldiers were not allowed to approach, only Ai Lin, Emperor Saint Jialin, and the one-armed Lou Aran were there, picking up each item one by one, sorting them out.

Lou Aran had a unique way of determining the value of these items: he would infuse them with Giant power. He had always possessed several Giant heirlooms, through which he had attained Giant power. Thus, Lou Aran used the infusion of Giant power as a criterion to differentiate the quality of Giant heirlooms.

But as each item was tested, none responded to the Giant power he infused.

"The things here don’t seem to be of much value," Lou Aran observed.

"Really?"

Ai Lin picked up a cylindrical object that Lou Aran had discarded not long ago and examined it carefully.

"Does this thing have a mechanism?"

While speaking, Ai Lin twisted the cylindrical head a bit. Then she infused mana into it, and intricate runes immediately appeared on the surface of the cylinder. From one end, mana burst forth, solidifying into a sword edge!

"Is this a mana greatsword?"

Ai Lin swung it a few times, laughing. The sword edge, purely condensed from mana, had no weight, and it buzzed as she swung it. The mana greatsword lightly skimmed across the back of a metal chair, horizontally slicing through it with a neat and smooth cut.

"Nice! I like it! I’ll keep it for my next sword fight with Long Yi!" Ai Lin said, putting away the mana greatsword.

Lou Aran watched as Ai Lin pocketed the metallic cylinder, unable to say anything. The very thing he had just discarded! To his dismay, Ai Lin picked it up and turned it into a treasure! How could he, the mighty Lou Aran, have misjudged its worth! No! It wasn’t a misjudgment, but a mistaken approach! These things might all have mechanisms, activated by infusing them with mana!

Thinking this, Lou Aran picked up the items he had thrown away and analyzed them carefully. He tried to infuse any potential power into them, not setting them aside until he was sure they elicited no reaction.

Then Ai Lin picked up the items Lou Aran had just thrown down. She examined them closely, just like Lou Aran did, twisting and turning them before infusing mana. Lou Aran’s heart raced with tension at the thought that she might yet again turn the item into something useful.

Fortunately, that didn’t happen.

Like him, Ai Lin couldn’t discern its purpose, and ultimately, none of the things on the ground found any use.

"It seems that this time, there might not be anything useful," Lou Aran said.

"I have a feeling..." Ai Lin answered absent-mindedly, then it seemed she discovered something. She laid out all the items together, took a closer look, and then began to rapidly assemble them. The process was not smooth at first, but as one piece after another came together, Ai Lin seemed to find her way. Eventually, a shuttle-shaped structure was assembled—but it was missing a cylindrical piece in the middle.

Ai Lin’s eyes lit up, she took out the cylinder she had just put away from her personal space, and inserted it into the structure.

The shuttle-shaped structure immediately lit up with runes all over.

Ai Lin raised her hand and infused the strength of the Giant into it, and the structure immediately flew into the air on its own, then began spinning rapidly.

As it rotated, a mana blade erupted, forming a high-speed screen of light around it! Anything that came within its range was sure to be shredded by its high velocity!

"So that’s how this thing works!" said Ai Lin, delighted.

Lou Aran really felt like smashing his head against a wall now. He prided himself on being someone who had inherited Ancient strength, who had received the Giant’s legacy, yet how could he have not realized that these items could still be assembled together? What left by the Giants would ever be worthless? It was just a matter of not knowing how to use them!

Lou Aran glanced at Ai Lin, who was having a blast, and quietly stepped aside. He knew this wasn’t the time. He wasn’t in a rush either because he was certain that whatever Ai Lin obtained would be shared with The Divine Auffa Empire and that Saint Jialin, after getting these items, would certainly seek him out for his extensive knowledge of the Giant’s legacy.

No rush... no rush...

Lou Aran forced himself to calm down, realizing that restoring his health was the most important thing right now.

The Empire’s fleet returned triumphantly, but Adaman left halfway through the trip. Looking at his almost murderous gaze, Long Yi couldn’t help feeling immensely satisfied.

That’s right! Your anger is my joy, for I am one who relishes in building my happiness upon your misery!

Imperial City held a grand welcoming ceremony and this time, Saint Danze was the one most flush with success. Not only had his own team gotten quite a few treasures during their previous venture, but Long Yi had gained even more!

The Cosmic Stone Greatsword; the Giant’s Magic Tome; and the inheritance that Long Yi had obtained from the inside of that planet, although these were all Long Yi’s, for now, what belonged to Long Yi belonged to him!

Long Yi would surely not part with the Cosmic Stone Greatsword, but Long Yi had indeed promised him the Giant’s Magic Tome. And as for the inheritance, Long Yi would certainly share a part with him, right?

Thinking this, Saint Danze couldn’t wait to burst into loud laughter; he was eager to start examining these treasures!

Indeed, Long Yi had acquired quite a few things, but most of them were just spare parts, useless when taken out separately. The real valuables were some kind of maintenance tools.

Yes, maintenance tools as defined by the Giants.

Take this mana welding torch, for example, which could emit a safe, two-meter-long flame of mana. Long Yi remembered that Ai Lin had also obtained a disassembled Welding Golem.

That’s right, that seemingly dangerous object was actually a Welding Golem, used solely for welding metals.

These items weren’t that interesting, although they were somewhat eye-catching. However, when Long Yi pulled out the huge Golem guardian from his personal space, Emperor Saint Danze’s eyes immediately bulged.

In the core area, those powerful Golem guardians had posed a tremendous threat to them. The soldiers of The Divine Auffa Empire and The Empire had set aside all enmity to collaborate, barely holding back all the Golems.

Back then, Saint Danze had been immensely annoyed when Little Zi lured these powerful Golems toward them. Thankfully, their desperate defenses prevented horrendous losses. But now, he realized it was a stroke of luck that Little Zi had lured the Golem guardians their way, which enabled Long Yi to secure those items. And before they left, Long Yi even took one of the guardian Golems with him!

"I reckon this stuff is more valuable than all these little knick-knacks. My newly researched armor could make use of it, so I took it with me," Long Yi said with a smile. (To be continued.
