Chapter 157 - 124: Light-Seeking Vehicle Design Blueprints

The lighting was soft.

In the underground chamber of the manor, the table was covered with numerous disassembled vehicle parts.

A delicate young girl with beautiful blue eyes lay on the table, Wendy focused intently, engrossed in perfecting the design blueprint before her.

Not far away, the blond witch was circling around the abandoned vehicle, dismantling its parts with a crackling ’Light Beam Cutter’, occasionally letting out peculiar sounds like ’Hey-ha!’

Wendy’s thoughts weren’t disturbed by her senior’s strange noises; her hand remained steady, the pen tip scratching on paper, complex-shaped parts coming to life on the paper, with every detail annotated with neat handwriting.

As an outstanding student of the Alliance’s White Tower Academy, Wendy had already sorted out the general outline from the dizzying prehistoric vehicle data provided by Bai.

According to Bai’s introduction, these civilian vehicles called ’Light-Seeking’ were commonly used transportation tools by Celestial Principle citizens.

As long as they weren’t driven into the disorderly rules of the Deep Sea, the Light-Seeking vehicles could theoretically adapt to any extreme land environment, easily overcoming both extreme cold and high temperatures, and scaling thousands of layers of ten-thousand-meter towers effortlessly.

Unfortunately, most of the modular special parts of the Light-Seeking vehicles were almost impossible to produce in today’s era.

The design data provided by Bai was almost like a celestial book.

Wendy was attempting to ’simplify’ the complex and obscure data stored in her mind, relying on her knowledge and understanding.

She practically abandoned the Light-Seeking parts designed for citizens’ comfort.

After discarding function parts like aerial navigation, comprehensive shock absorption, and vehicle-human consciousness integration, what remained on the blueprint of the Light-Seeking vehicle was just a basic framework.

The redesigned vehicle blueprint would soon be sent to the steel processing plant managed by Abel.

If progress proceeded smoothly, the workers could craft molds and gradually assemble a prototype of the semi-cost ’Ark Ash Soil Edition’ Light-Seeking vehicle.

Even with Bai’s assistance, this was no easy task.

Wendy was stuck at the most critical step; the ’energy conversion device’ built into the vehicle was just too complex. This special part couldn’t be simplified, and forcing a design imitation would result in a Light-Seeking vehicle whose performance would be greatly compromised.

Low energy utilization meant the vehicle wouldn’t fly high or run fast, ultimately wasting precious material resources.

Wendy picked up the polygonal part on the table and examined it closely.

Perhaps it was inheriting her mother’s witchlike curiosity, but Wendy’s eyes sparkled with deep curiosity.

These vehicle materials were jointly brought out of the Gray Realm by Lord Lin Lan, Lucia, and Lady Eleanor...

How wonderful.

If only I could go to the Gray Realm with Lord Lin Lan and see it for myself...

A gray-haired boy’s slightly fatigued face suddenly flashed through Wendy’s mind.

At some point, that figure had deeply imprinted itself in the girl’s heart.

He seemed to be walking on a straight path, never pausing, the belief in his heart like an unquenchable flame, burning away the thorns on both sides of the road, with only the best being able to stay by his side.

Just like Lucia and Eleanor...

The delicate girl put down her pen, her eyes suddenly becoming somewhat dim.

All I need to do is watch that figure from afar...

Though mentally exhausted, Wendy refocused her mind and picked up her pen once more.

"Wendy junior, Wendy junior!"

Lucia’s boisterous voice suddenly sounded beside her, bringing Wendy back to her senses. She found the petite witch grinning before her.

"Listen to me, I’ve thought of a good idea!"

Lucia hugged two thick, long iron pipes excitedly, saying, "How about we add a super large turret on each side of the vehicle? By just pressing a switch in the car, the explosive bombs I designed would be launched, blowing the enemies sky-high!"

"No way."

Wendy extended her forefinger and lightly tapped Lucia’s head: "Lord Lin Lan specifically instructed that without stable technological grounding, no dangerous modifications to the Ideal City’s tools are allowed."

"Oh~ why are you all as rigid as those old academy professors~"

Lucia stuck her tongue out, making a face.

Though Lucia’s scholarly knowledge surpassed Wendy’s, Wendy still held a certain leadership within the secret base.

That had also been Lin Lan’s rule; without restraining Lucia, who knew how many explosive items this Pirate First Mate would stash under her bed...

Sleeping would be quite an adventure then.

Wendy had grown accustomed to her senior’s antics. She lowered her head and refocused her attention on the blueprint.

The blond witch, undeterred, held onto the gun barrel, snuggled closer, and carefully scrutinized the paper spread across the table.

"The energy conversion part is hard to redesign..."

Lucia instantly spotted the challenge Wendy was facing.

"Yes." Wendy nodded with some worry: "The conversion parts we’ve dismantled are nearly irreplaceable, and I’m uncertain if the replicated parts can successfully convert energies other than electricity."

"Who cares! Let’s just make it first! We can’t strive for perfection in everything."

Lucia’s eyes were burning bright: "Lin Lan is hoping for the first Ark vehicle to land successfully. Ark Island lacks everything, and as far as he’s concerned, as long as it moves, it’s good enough."
