Chapter 167 - 129: The Press Is a Sharp Sword!

The sky was barely light.

Sean sat in his brand new office, somewhat troubled, staring at the papers on the desk.

The once Sun Praise Priest who led refugees struggled to survive has now become a member of the Ark’s top hierarchy.

Just the day before, Sean had been appointed by Lord Lin Lan as the editor-in-chief of the Ark Kingdom’s newspaper, responsible for delivering news to the ordinary people nationwide.

Although he didn’t quite understand what ’editor-in-chief’ meant, Sean had a rough idea of how to accomplish this task.

When the Lion Heart Kingdom had not yet fallen, noble lords usually instructed their attendants to post various announcements on bulletin boards regularly.

These announcements were mostly praises of the Royal Court nobility, notices of punishments for tax-evading commoners, and harsh new taxes concocted on a whim by local lords.

The bulletin board used to essentially be a tool for the Lion Heart top brass to pressure the commoners.

Sean, bathed in the morning light, fell into deep contemplation.

Lord Lin Lan told him that the original purpose of establishing the Ark newspaper was not merely to serve the Ark’s upper echelons, but to stand firmly with the people.

This was fundamentally different from the nobility’s domineering proclamations.

Besides promoting new policies, he also needed to accurately document the large and small events happening throughout the kingdom on paper, then convey the news to everyone’s ears through the Sun Mine.

Sean picked up a quill, meticulously recalling the specifics of yesterday’s meeting.

He could imitate Lord Lin Lan’s emotionally powerful speeches, but when he calmed down to personally write the practical reports, Sean felt his mind was rusty.

He didn’t know how to describe the ’Flower Boat Incident’ that occurred in Seagull Port to the people.

"There’s no need to pile up meaningless, bloated details. Just objectively lay out the events, so all the common people can understand..."

Sean recalled Lord Lin Lan’s advice, hesitating as he put down the pen.

Let’s start with basic reports that can’t go wrong...

’The roads linking the East and South Borders have been completed, with new steel processing plants established by craftsmen near three mining sites, creating more job opportunities.’

’The size of the Civilian Corps has surpassed two thousand! As the Civilian Corps advances, land on the Western Border plains contaminated by the Blood Plague is being gradually purified by Sun Ash Soil, successfully dispelling the malicious curse left by the Royal Court!’

’Camelot city has been liberated! Centurion Colin smoothly cleared out centuries of accumulated gold, silver, and jewels of the Lion Heart Royal Court, these assets will be used to reconstruct local residential areas destroyed by the Celestial Calamity.’

Sean paid full attention to fill the paper, leaving only the top blank after a while.

The man took a deep breath and wrote down the latest news in the blank space:

’Seagull Port was attacked by the Platinum Navigator Nightingale, and Lord Lin Lan refused to accept the proposal of cooperation from the other side...’

Sean gradually stopped his hand.

The content he wrote would be seen by millions of people, and he would act as the voice of the Ark Kingdom, engraving Lord Lin Lan’s will into everyone’s heart...

This was by no means a simple textual job, but a very significant and meaningful important task.

But looking at the dry words on the paper, Sean couldn’t help but feel a sense of trepidation, unsure if he could handle such an important position...

At that moment, the office door was suddenly pushed open.

"Uncle Sean, here’s today’s breakfast!"

Two children burst into the office like a gust of wind, laughing and romping, as a little girl placed the lunchbox in her hand on Sean’s desk.

"I’ve told you many times, you just need to take care of yourselves."

Sean put down the pen, looking a bit helpless at the two little newspaper boys in front of him.

"Has today’s news been written, Uncle Sean?"

Ethan leaned over the desk, eagerly looking at the paper on the desktop, and said, "When can we start copying the news?"

"Wait a little longer." Sean shook his head slightly.

Today’s news was indeed difficult to write, he hadn’t closed his eyes the entire night.

Feeling the hunger in his stomach, Sean eventually accepted the goodwill of the two little ones, opening the lunchbox, and feeling slightly stunned.

"What kind of fish is this?"

Sean saw a full, crystal-clear chubby fish. Curious, he forked a piece of the cut fish and put it in his mouth. The delicious taste instantly activated his taste buds.

He felt the accumulated fatigue was swept away.

"This is the Roro Fish from Lord Lin Lan! It’s especially delicious!"

Laila swallowed her saliva and said crisply: "Ethan and I each ate half, and left the remaining one for you, Uncle!"

"You guys..." Sean was stunned in place.

"Mom said that if it weren’t for Uncle Sean’s best efforts to drive away the nasty Blood Plague Curse, my brother and I would have disappeared long ago..."

The little girl blinked her eyes, saying earnestly: "We have never forgotten Uncle Sean’s dedication to us!"

"When I grow up, I want to be someone like Uncle Sean!"

Ethan raised his head boastfully: "I’ve learned a lot of Sun Script, and I’ll definitely help you in the future!"

"You’re already helping, Ethan."

Sean’s gaze softened as he looked at the energetic little ones, feeling a fleeting moment of nostalgia.

The scene of struggling with the children in the cold autumn wind was still vivid in his memory.
