Chapter 57 - 54: It’s Your Turn (Please Continue Reading)_1
What a lethal arrow!
Lu Yan had practiced archery before and knew instantly by the sound, the kind of weapon that had been used to attack him.
But it was countless times more terrifying than any arrow he had fired.
Without time to dodge, Lu Yan instinctively plunged forward as an arrow whirled past his scalp, hitting a large tree that two people could wrap their arms around.
With a crash, splinters flew in all directions as a gaping hole appeared in the tree. The arrow had entirely buried itself into the tree’s trunk, demonstrating its formidable power.
Whizz!
Amidst the rainy night, Lu Yan heard another sharp sound tearing through the air.
Due to the rain’s interference, by the time Lu Yan heard the sound, the arrow was already close.
Fortunately, this arrow was aimed at Wang Shun.
Wang Shun had already turned around and swung his war knife forward with both hands.
With a loud clank, Wang Shun was forced back several meters, eventually ramming into a large tree. His sword-holding hands trembled incessantly, and blood flowed from the split between his thumb and forefinger.
Still, the arrow was blocked.
"There’s an archer, be careful."
Lu Yan warned, flipping up, on alert.
The pot-bearing girl also stopped, taking the black pot on her back down and holding it in front of her.
In the dark night, apart from the sound of rain, there was nothing else. The third arrow didn’t come, but they felt immense pressure as though a beast was lurking in the darkness, watching them, ready to strike at any moment.
They knew that the archer hadn’t left. He was hiding in the darkness, looking for a chance to attack.
Whizz! Whizz!
Suddenly, two arrows cut through the rain curtain like two white ribbons, shooting towards Lu Yan and the girl.
The girl used the pot as a shield, blocking the arrows, and her body barely swayed.
Lu Yan had prepared for this. With muscles tense, he jumped sideways and dodged the arrows.
But as soon as he landed, another arrow abruptly appeared right in front of him, shooting towards his forehead.
A third arrow! Boo had a small sound that surprised Lu Yan. This arrow couldn’t be dodged.
Lu Yan felt a sharp pain in his forehead. Under the threat of death, he let out a roar. His body quickly swelled, turning golden. He reached out and, with a hair’s breadth to spare, grabbed the arrow shaft.
Sizzling sound!
The arrow, made entirely of metal, sparked as it rubbed against Lu Yan’s hand. The powerful force drove Lu Yan back continuously. Only after retreating by five to six meters did he manage to stop, with the arrow just stopping short of his forehead.
"Such intense power."
Only by facing it head-on could they fully understand the terror of the arrow.
The archer was definitely a five-time limit breaker and cultivated top-tier martial arts. The arrow held a strong concentration of Qi-blood.
This person was from one of the Feudal Lords, but they didn’t know if it was from the Liu Family or the Wu Family.
Lu Yan held the arrow in his hand, ready for anything.
At this moment, he noticed that Wang Shun had quietly moved, positioning himself behind Lu Yan, a few meters away.
Whizz!
Yet another arrow was shot, aiming for Lu Yan.
Lu Yan swung the arrow in his hand, knocking the incoming arrow away.
With a loud clank, the incoming arrow was knocked away. He then quickly changed positions.
"It’s over there, find him."
The pot-bearing girl said. Her body moved like the wind toward where the arrows were shot from.
Lu Yan and Wang Shun quickly followed, but even after running several hundred meters, they saw no one.
Clearly, their opponent had excellent eyesight and had switched positions once he saw them coming. Just like a snake hiding in the shadows, watching their every move.
Wang Shun suddenly rolled over, landing behind Lu Yan. Right after, the intense sound of air being pierced rang out, and an arrow fell on the spot where Wang Shun had just stood.
Then, another arrow flew towards Lu Yan, which he blocked with an arrow shaft.
Wang Shun kept moving, always positioning himself on one side of Lu Yan.
Lu Yan frowned. Was he being used as a human shield?
"They’re trying to hold us off to wait for reinforcements; we must get rid of that archer quickly."
The pot-bearing girl said.
Lu Yan and Wang Shun knew this too.
But that archer appeared and disappeared like a ghost, continuously changing positions. On this rainy night, it was challenging to find him.
As for simply running away, that was even less feasible.
Firstly, the opponent would catch up to them.
Secondly, during the sprinting process, they risked being ambushed from behind while distracted. This would be even more dangerous.
"Got it!"
A thought suddenly struck Lu Yan, he had an idea. His face remained impassive.
Whoosh!
Another arrow came flying, Lu Yan swung his shaft to block it. This time, he pretended to falter, stumbling backwards, reducing the distance between him and Wang Shun.
Immediately, another arrow shot towards Lu Yan’s face.
Lu Yan pitched backwards, the arrow soaring over his face towards Wang Shun in the rear.
Wang Shun let out a low cry, his Qi-blood surging as he slashed at the incoming arrow with all his might.
With a clang, his War Knife vibrated, he staggered backwards, almost dropping his weapon.
At this moment, Lu Yan pushed off the ground with force, rushing back towards Wang Shun, and swiftly seized his ankles.
"What... are you doing?"
Wang Shun was taken aback.
"You used me as a shield, now it’s your turn,"
As Lu Yan spoke, he flexed his muscles and swung Wang Shun around, launching him towards the incoming arrows.
Wang Shun’s body flew towards the direction of the arrow-shots like a cannonball.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
Two consecutive arrows shot towards Wang Shun.
In this life and death moment, Wang Shun tapped into his full potential, wildly swinging his knife to block the two arrows.
But the third arrow came immediately after. Regardless of what he tried, Wang Shun couldn’t block this arrow. With a resentful cry, the arrow pierced his chest, blasting open a large hole.
"Shoot!"
As he threw Wang Shun, Lu Yan let out a muted shout. His right arm bulged with the force of his Qi-blood rushing towards it, channeling all his strength into it, and he forcefully hurled the shaft in his hand.
With a hissing sound, the shaft flew at a shocking speed toward a certain direction.
That direction was where the archer stood. his position had been exposed due to his continuous shots aimed at Wang Shun.
As if they were telepathically linked, or perhaps due to her astute sharpness, the moment Lu Yan threw Wang Shun, the unnamed girl quickly grasped Lu Yan’s intention, and darted swiftly toward the archer, throwing her own knife at him at the same time.
In the dark night, the sound of muffled grunt was heard.
One down!
Lu Yan sprung off with a push of his legs, covering a distance of over ten meters and chased after the archer.
Although the archer had remarkable vision, it would have been impossible for him to clearly lock onto Lu Yan and his companion in the rainy night from a great distance. He couldn’t be more than a hundred meters away.
Given Lu Yan and the unnamed girl’s speed, they would catch up in five or six breaths’ time.
The unnamed girl was even faster.
"Thought you could get away?"
By the time Lu Yan arrived, the unnamed girl swung again, hurling another knife.
Clang!
Lu Yan saw a figure swinging a bow to knock the knife away.
Lu Yan quickly gave chase, but the figure didn’t try to shoot, instead focused on escaping. However, he was nowhere near as fast as Lu Yan, who quickly closed the distance.
It was only when he got closer that Lu Yan realized the figure had a knife lodged deep into his right shoulder.
No wonder he wasn’t shooting. His injured shoulder wouldn’t let him exert the strength required for shooting.
The unnamed girl was also closing in, another knife flying towards the archer from her hand.
The archer blocked with his bow, but this slight delay allowed Lu Yan to catch up, and he began to relentlessly throw punch after punch.
The archer could only defend with his left hand.
After clashing once, the archer stumbled backwards, unable to face off against Lu Yan.
"Earth Bear Strike Hand, you must be from the Wu Family."
Lu Yan thought while maintaining his offensive. In two moves, he landed a punch on the archer’s chest, sending him flying over ten meters and crashing into a large tree.
Following up, she launched a dagger which lodged itself in the archer’s throat.
After killing the archer, Lu Yan rushed over and searched his body but didn’t find anything of value.
What a pity.
Naturally, Lu Yan had his eyes on the archery martial arts. The potency of this skill had been experienced firsthand not long ago.
If it had fallen into his hands, its power would have been even more frightful.
With no spoils of war, he didn’t linger, striking out deeper into the forbidden area. Beside him, the unnamed girl ran as if a wraith, shoulder to shoulder with him.
