Chapter 179 - 135: You Handle the Hype!
"What kind of justice is this?"
Eleanor stared at the scenes playing on the screen, crossing her arms and curling her lips disdainfully, "Looks like an over-the-top theatrical performance."
"This is the most standard justice execution process."
Roman sighed helplessly, "No wonder you bumpkins from the countryside can’t even appreciate the beauty."
"Lord Judge, what were the crimes of that sinner?"
Lin Lan fixed his gaze on the sinner howling on the ground. Compared to the extravagantly styled hero, the defeated criminal was the very image of an evildoer.
His limbs were short and stout, he hunched over, his hair sparse and messy, nose flat, and bore a pair of unsightly triangular eyes.
And then, there was the hero bathed in petals, a handsome man with long, silky silver hair. His movements were graceful, his expression confident, adorned in silver armor etched with patterns, his cape billowing behind him.
On the screen, amidst the cheers of the crowd, the silver-haired hero had already pierced the sinner’s wrist with a silver long spear engraved with roses at the tip.
"That villain robbed a roadside bakery and terrorized countless innocent passersby."
Roman explained with patience, "He used his dirty hands to pollute the pure order of the Flower Celestial City, an utterly heinous crime."
"That’s all?"
Lin Lan looked puzzled, "There weren’t even any harmed citizens on the scene?"
"The Flower Celestial City is the safest city; how could sinners find a chance to harm the innocent? Besides, these trivial matters are unimportant to you; what the sinner did is something only we heroes should care about."
Roman became a bit irritable, "You should be focusing on the singing team beside the Silver Knight!"
In the light and shadows, two long-haired singers were wearing pure white and pure black long dresses, holding hands, standing on a temporarily erected stage, their voices ethereal and sacred.
"They are the famous singing duo ’Twin Flowers.’ Heaven knows what method the Silver Knight used to bring them to his agency."
"This act of justice happened just yesterday."
Roman’s expression grew increasingly anxious, "With their fame, the Silver Knight is well-received by the people, and his Hero Agency’s reputation in the city has risen several ranks."
The painful wails of the ugly sinner were drowned out by cheers, his face trampled under the hero’s foot, faint and breathless.
In contrast, the hero appeared even more dazzling and splendid.
"Thank you for your recognition, lovely and beautiful people. My actions are all for our glorious future."
The silver-haired hero smiled, bent slightly forward, and with a hand on his chest, he bowed to the crowd:
"Everything, dedicated to noble and perfect justice."
The unconscious sinner was soon confined in a vehicle headed to prison.
Several Hero Agency-hired team members swarmed over, some bending to wipe the hero’s shoe soles, others laying a red carpet leading to a silver luxury car, while the Silver Knight retained a humble smile, gracefully retreating amidst the admiring eyes of the crowd.
Ansel fell into silence, furrowing his brows deeply.
Lin Lan and Eleanor, on the other hand, watched with great interest.
If it were merely spouting lines to bully the sinner, the scene would’ve been awkwardly dissonant, but paired with the singing team’s live BGM, the atmosphere shifted instantly.
With the singing team’s pre-arranged petal backdrop, it admittedly made for quite a grandiose spectacle.
However, as Eleanor rightly pointed out, it’s merely a meticulously crafted live performance.
Lin Lan curved his lips slightly, but a frosty glint flickered deep in his eyes.
’The Beauty God’s pollution of Justice’s methods is truly revolting...’
"Lord Judge, do you place a lot of emphasis on your rankings?"
Molly perked her fluffy ears straight up, having grasped the key point in Roman’s words, timidly inquiring.
"Justice, naturally, has its levels. If a hero doesn’t have fame, no matter how many sinners he hunts, he won’t gain the people’s acknowledgment."
Roman spoke in an unsurprising tone, "This is why heroes need singing teams, as the rankings of singers and hero agencies complement each other."
"Ah, the city’s method of evaluating justice is indeed professional."
Lin Lan raised an eyebrow, "Lord Judge, so what’s the current rank of our agency?"
Roman fell silent.
"Damn it! Why are you asking so many questions?!"
The next moment, he suddenly erupted, painfully clutching his red hair, "I have no rank! I refuse to submit to those rules!"
Lin Lan seemed to have pressed a peculiar switch.
"I am the Judge! Not some hero! Rankings are completely irrelevant to me!"
Roman’s eyes turned bloodshot instantly, "No... it’s not that either...
His words took a sudden nonsensical turn, disjointed and incoherent: "If I can’t enter the hero rankings, I’ll never touch the Tomb of Justice, and justice will completely lose its anchor. This world will abandon us..."
The curly-haired handsome man began raving in public.
"That’s why I’ve turned into this disgusting mess!"
Roman glanced at the mirror, painfully covering his face, his shoulders trembling incessantly.
Daisy’s ears pinned back against her head, instinctively taking a step closer to Lin Lan.
Lin Lan carefully observed Roman’s state. Judging by the look of it now, this guy’s mental condition was indeed somewhat abnormal...
Eleanor didn’t pay any attention to the madness-stricken judge; she simply sat down next to Lin Lan, crossing her long legs.
